Marcia Lynn Knowlton, 74, passed away on February 23, 2025. Born on January 15, 1951, to Herman and Ernestine Karshner, she developed lifelong roots within the North Branch community. Marcia joyfully married Robert Dale Knowlton on November 23, 1972, and together they created cherished memories, particularly at their cabin up north near Alpena, Michigan. Known for her outdoor passions, Marcia delighted in spending time outdoors, echoing through her family's life with stories of snowmobiling, fishing, and enjoying nature.
Professionally, Marcia served many dedicated years as an inventory clerk at McLaren Lapeer, retiring from her role in 2016. She was not only committed to her work but cherished moments at home, where she enjoyed solving puzzles and watching shows like NCIS alongside her beloved pup, Rowdy.
The family remembers Marcia fondly, with her son, Robert (fiancée Lauren) Knowlton residing in Orlando, and her stepchildren and numerous grandchildren reiterate her legacy. Marcia’s siblings, including Jennifer Hawk and Arthur Karshner, held her dear and will carry her spirit forward. A community gathering to honor her wishes will be arranged, and memorial contributions may be made to Paradise Animal Rescue.
Turning to the next loss felt by many, Terry Lynn Turner Scott, aged 69, of Jakin, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, March 1, 2025. Lastly, Jo Lynn Genter-White, who passed away on the same day as Marcia, leaves behind treasured memories of life, love, and laughter. She fought fiercely against aggressive cancer before her passing on February 23, 2025, at her home in Palm Harbor, Florida. Friends and family witnessed her courage and found joy galore amid struggles. "Cancer sucks," her loved ones recalled, underscoring the harsh realities faced during her courageous illness.
Born on May 16, 1958, Jo captured the hearts of everyone around her with her quick wit, loving spirit, and remarkable knack for friendship. Jo spent her childhood moving around the country due to her father's military career, building resilience through her experiences. Her love for sports shone bright—she was noted for being active from youth, partaking passionately as both athlete and supporter, especially enjoying skiing.
A Madison La Follette alumna, Jo excelled academically and athletically, graduating with her Physical Education degree from UW-Madison alongside both her mother and sister. Her dedication to family and career were evident as she became respected within her long tenure at American Family Insurance as a trainer and program developer. A spirited mom herself, Jo dedicated her life to being actively involved with her children—Lindsay, Aaron, and Andrea—and grandchildren Kaelyn and Kendal.
"Though she may no longer be with us in body, Jo's spirit will forever remain a guiding light in our lives. She will be deeply missed and never forgotten," read tributes reflecting her spirit and lasting legacy. Jo's family plans to hold a celebration of her life at Christy's Landing on Lake Waubesa on May 18 from 2-6 p.m., where friends and family can share laughter, memories, and love.
