NTT Announces Major Rebranding With New Name And Logo

The company aims to enhance global recognition and competitiveness with its name change and updated corporate identity.

On May 9, 2025, Nippon Telegraph and Telephone (NTT) made a significant announcement regarding its corporate identity, revealing a new company name and logo that will take effect on July 1, 2025. The company will officially change its name from Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation to NTT Corporation, with its English name also being updated to NTT, Inc.

During a results briefing held on the same day, Akira Shimada, the President and CEO of NTT, explained the motivation behind this rebranding. He stated, "40 years have passed since the privatization of the NTT Group in 1985, and we have been developing various businesses such as domestic fixed communications, mobile communications, and IT businesses. As the company name and business content, which were established 40 years ago, differ greatly, I felt that it was hindering the improvement of recognition globally." This change aims to enhance the company's brand recognition in a competitive global market.

Alongside the name change, NTT will also adopt a new corporate logo. The design will continue to feature the Dynamic Loop, a symbol that has represented NTT since its establishment. However, the font color will shift from black to blue, a color already in use overseas. This move is part of a broader strategy to unify the brand identity both domestically and internationally.

Shimada further elaborated on the significance of the logo change, stating, "The reason for importing the Dynamic Loop and NTT Data Group's font with blue as the keynote is certainly because we are aware of the global market." The logo redesign aims to reflect the company's commitment to innovation and modernization.

In addition to the name and logo changes, the NTT Group will also implement a new set of guiding principles known as NTT Group's Core and NTT Group's Values. The NTT Group's Core focuses on contributing to the affluent lives of people and the future of the planet, emphasizing customer-centric ideas and continuous self-innovation. The NTT Group's Values highlight the importance of acting with integrity, building trust, and creating connections.

As part of the rebranding, NTT Docomo Group, which includes NTT Docomo, NTT Communications, and NTT Comware, will adopt the red color as part of the Dynamic Loop logo, further reinforcing its brand identity. NTT Communications and NTT Comware will also change their names to docomo Business and docomo Solutions, respectively, in line with these updates.

The changes are scheduled to be implemented from July 1, 2025, and will be rolled out across all group companies sequentially. This rebranding effort is seen as a crucial step for NTT as it seeks to strengthen its presence in the global market, presenting a unified and modern image that resonates with customers worldwide.
