NTA Faces Pressure Over JEE Main Exam Schedule

Students urge NTA to resolve clash with CBSE Class 12 exams

The National Testing Agency (NTA) is currently navigating a challenging situation with the scheduling of the JEE Main 2025 Session 2 exams, which are set to take place from April 2 to April 9, 2025. This scheduling has sparked concerns among students and parents due to overlaps with the CBSE Class 12 board examinations.

As it stands, the JEE Main 2025 Session 2 will see candidates taking the exam in two shifts: the morning shift from 9 AM to 12 noon and the afternoon shift from 3 PM to 6 PM. However, on April 8, the exam will only be held in the evening shift. The Advanced Intimation Allotment Slip, released on March 20, 2025, provided candidates with details about their test city, but the admit cards, which contain information about the exam center, are expected to be available on March 29, 2025.

Students have raised alarms about the clash between the JEE Main dates and several CBSE Class 12 subjects, including language papers on April 2, home science on April 3, and psychology on April 4. This overlap is particularly concerning for students who are preparing for both the board exams and the entrance tests, as they face the daunting task of managing their study schedules effectively.

In light of these concerns, there has been a growing call for the NTA to consider rescheduling the JEE Main exams to alleviate the pressure on students. Parents and students have taken to social media to express their frustrations and request that the NTA and CBSE adjust the exam schedules. Despite the mounting pressure, as of now, there has been no official announcement from the NTA regarding any changes to the exam dates.

However, a recent notification from the NTA indicates that they have acknowledged the concerns raised by some candidates. The agency has issued revised JEE Main 2025 session 2 exam dates for certain students who are facing conflicts with the Class 12 board exams. Those affected can access their revised exam dates by logging into the JEE Mains website, effective March 28, 2025. For other candidates, the original schedule remains unchanged.

For students whose exam dates coincide with their Class 12 board exams and who feel they have been overlooked in the rescheduling process, the NTA has provided a channel for communication. Candidates are encouraged to inform the NTA via their registered email at [email protected], including the necessary documentation to support their requests.

The JEE Main is a pivotal examination for students aspiring to enter engineering colleges, and the results significantly impact their future academic paths. With over 1.258 million candidates having appeared for the JEE Main Session 1 exam earlier this year, the stakes are high for those preparing for the upcoming session. Notably, 14 candidates achieved a perfect score of 100 NTA in the first session, with representation from various states, including five from Rajasthan and two from Delhi.

As the examination dates draw nearer, students are urged to stay informed about any updates from the NTA and prepare accordingly. The JEE Main is not only a test of knowledge but also a test of time management and resilience as candidates juggle multiple responsibilities.

In summary, the NTA's handling of the JEE Main 2025 Session 2 amidst the CBSE board exam overlap is under scrutiny, with students and parents hoping for a resolution that accommodates their academic needs. The coming days will be crucial as the NTA finalizes its plans and communicates any necessary changes to the candidates.
