Nothing Technologies Limited has officially announced two new smartphone models, the Nothing Phone (3a) and the upgraded Nothing Phone (3a) Pro, at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 held from March 3 to March 6, 2025, in Barcelona, Spain. This launch is part of the company’s mission to make technology more exciting and user-friendly.
The Nothing Phone (3a) will be available for pre-order starting March 4, 2025, and will be released on March 11, 2025, priced at $379 for the base model with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Meanwhile, the Phone (3a) Pro will follow on March 25, 2025, available at £459 or approximately $459 for the standard model featuring 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
Both models flaunt eye-catching designs with the signature Glyph Interface, integrating LED lights on the back, creating stunning visual notifications for incoming calls and messages. The Phone (3a) Pro features improved photographic capabilities with its triple camera setup, which includes a 50MP main camera, 50MP periscope camera with 3x optical zoom, 8MP ultra-wide camera, and supports max 60x digital zoom.
Distinctively, the Phone (3a) is equipped with a slightly simpler camera layout, replacing the periscope lens with a 50MP 2x zoom camera. This notable distinction enhances the photographic experience for users who prefer advanced photography techniques.
Powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 processor, both models support up to 12GB of RAM and come with Android 15, along with Nothing OS 3.1. Users can expect three years of major Android updates and six years of security patches.
Notably, the phones feature the innovative Essential Space—a new functionality aimed at streamlining digital clutter. This feature allows users to store and index screenshots, voice memos, and images efficiently via the newly introduced Essential Key located just beneath the power button. A simple click enables users to save web pages and images directly, targeting users who frequently need quick access to important information.
Both devices feature 6.77 inches FHD+ displays with 120Hz refresh rates, enhanced responsiveness, and brighter visibility (reaching up to 1300 nits). The battery capacity stands at 5,000mAh, with fast charging capabilities allowing users to recharge up to 50% within just 19 minutes—ideal for those with busy lifestyles.
For connectivity and usability, both models are IP64 rated for water and dust resistance, ensuring durability for daily use. The integration of AI features within the firmware aims to boost user efficiency and simplify complex tasks, positioning Nothing as a strong contender within the competitive mid-range smartphone market.
On March 4, 2025, the reception of the Phone (3a) series has been positive, with early reviews highlighting the unique blend of design, utility, and value for money. The commitment to sustainability is also present, as Nothing maintains its reputation by achieving the lowest carbon footprint among competing smartphones.
Future plans for Nothing include more software updates and enhancements to the Essential Space functionality, aimed at introducing features like automatic categorization of stored content, enhancing user experience through AI.
The Nothing Phone (3a) is being offered in color variations of Black, White, and Blue, whereas the Phone (3a) Pro will come solely in Grey and Black. This decision reflects the brand's focus on simplicity and elegance as key design pillars.
With the Phones (3a) and (3a) Pro launch, Nothing Technologies strives to empower users with smarter tech experiences, redefining what mid-range smartphones can deliver, and ensuring they remain accessible and relevant amid rapid technological advancements.
