Nothing Launches Community Edition Project For Phone (3a)

Fans invited to contribute designs and marketing ideas for upcoming smartphone model

Nothing, the London-based technology company, is set to launch the second edition of its Community Edition Project, inviting fans and creative minds to contribute to the design and marketing of its upcoming Phone (3a). The new project aims to engage the community more than ever, with submissions accepted from March 26 until April 23, 2025, at 3:30 PM IST. Participants will have the chance to win a cash prize of £1,000 and collaborate directly with Nothing’s design team for six months to refine their ideas.

According to Nothing, this year’s Community Edition Project will feature four distinct creative briefs: Hardware Design, Accessory Design, Software Design, and Marketing Campaign. Each of these components allows participants to showcase their creativity in different aspects of the product.

For Hardware Design, entrants are tasked with developing a fresh look for the Phone (3a), while the Accessory Design category invites creators to propose exclusive collectibles or accessories that will accompany the phone. The Software Design component focuses on enhancing the user interface with unique wallpapers, widgets, and icon packs. Finally, the Marketing Campaign category encourages participants to craft creative proposals for promotional visuals and launch events.

Winners will not only receive a cash prize but also gain invaluable hands-on experience in the creative process. They will participate in workshops, design reviews, and other collaborative efforts to bring their ideas to life alongside Nothing’s design team.

Last year, the inaugural Community Edition Project attracted a remarkable 1,000 creative entries from 47 countries, and Nothing anticipates an even higher turnout this time around. The selection process will involve community voting, where Nothing Community users can show support for their favorite entries. Following the voting phase, Nothing's internal juries will select the winning submissions.

The culmination of this collaborative effort will be the launch of the Phone (3a) Community Edition, slated to debut by the end of 2025. All four winners will be invited to attend the launch event, celebrating their contributions to the project.
