Nothing Launches CMF Phone 2 Pro With Impressive Features

The new smartphone boasts a powerful camera system and modular accessories for budget-conscious consumers.

Nothing has officially unveiled its latest smartphone, the CMF Phone 2 Pro, expanding its CMF sub-brand with significant upgrades and features aimed at budget-conscious consumers. This model is not just a slight improvement over its predecessor, the CMF Phone 1; it's a substantial leap forward, particularly in camera technology and modular accessory options.

At the heart of the CMF Phone 2 Pro is a 6.77-inch AMOLED display that boasts a 120Hz refresh rate, providing a smooth visual experience. The display also supports HDR10+ and peaks at an impressive 3,000 nits brightness, making it one of the brightest screens available in this price range. This upgrade is complemented by a sturdy design that measures just 7.8mm thick and weighs 185 grams, making it the thinnest smartphone in the CMF lineup.

Under the hood, the CMF Phone 2 Pro is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Pro processor, which offers a 10% increase in CPU performance and a 5% boost in graphics compared to the previous model. This chip works in conjunction with 8GB of RAM, and customers can choose between 128GB or 256GB of internal storage, expandable up to 2TB via a microSD card.

One of the standout features of the CMF Phone 2 Pro is its camera system. It includes a primary 50MP camera with a larger 1/1.57” sensor that captures 64% more light than the previous model's sensor. This camera can record 4K video at 30fps and features AI-powered image stabilization. The Pro model also introduces a 50MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom and a new 8MP ultra-wide camera, which significantly enhances the photography capabilities compared to the single camera setup of the CMF Phone 1.

For selfies, the phone retains the 16MP front camera, ensuring that users can capture high-quality images. The modular philosophy of the CMF brand is evident with the introduction of interchangeable camera lenses, including options for macro and fisheye photography. This modular approach allows users to enhance their photography experience by simply attaching these lenses to the main camera.

Battery life is another area where the CMF Phone 2 Pro excels. It houses a 5,000mAh battery that supports 33W fast charging and 5W reverse charging, promising up to 22 hours of YouTube playback or 10 hours of gaming on Battlegrounds Mobile India. The battery is designed to retain at least 90% of its original capacity after 1,200 charge cycles, ensuring longevity.

The CMF Phone 2 Pro also offers enhanced durability with an IP54 rating for water and dust resistance, a step up from the IP52 rating of its predecessor. This means the phone is better equipped to handle splashes and dust, making it more suitable for everyday use.

In terms of software, the phone runs on Nothing OS 3.2, based on Android 15, and promises three years of operating system updates along with six years of security patches. This commitment to software longevity is a significant advantage for users looking for a reliable device that will remain current over time.

As for pricing, the CMF Phone 2 Pro starts at £219 in the UK and €249 in Europe for the 128GB model, while the 256GB variant is priced at £249 and €280, respectively. In the U.S., the phone is available through Nothing's beta program for $279, but it comes with some caveats regarding carrier compatibility and support.

Pre-orders for the CMF Phone 2 Pro began on April 28, 2025, with general sales set to commence on May 6, 2025. Alongside the phone, Nothing is also launching a new range of modular accessories, including a universal cover, wallet/stand combo, and additional camera lenses. These accessories are designed to enhance the phone's functionality and allow users to customize their devices to suit their needs.

In summary, the CMF Phone 2 Pro represents a significant step forward for Nothing’s sub-brand, combining impressive specifications with a user-friendly design and modular capabilities. For consumers seeking a budget smartphone that does not compromise on features, the CMF Phone 2 Pro is poised to be a strong contender in the market.
