Norwegian airline Norse Atlantic Airways has announced the launch of a highly anticipated direct flight route between London Gatwick and Bangkok. Starting from October 26, 2025, travelers will be able to fly directly to the vibrant Thai capital, with the service offering up to four flights per week.
This expansion marks Norse Atlantic Airways' commitment to increasing affordable, long-haul travel options, adding to its growing portfolio of international destinations. With return fares starting from just £295, including taxes, travelers are presented with an enticing opportunity for winter getaways to Thailand.
London Gatwick serves as the key hub for Norse Atlantic, which has experienced strong demand for its flights since it commenced operations. This new route to Bangkok complements the airline's existing transatlantic and South African services, enhancing connectivity for passengers seeking to explore Asia.
“We’re thrilled to introduce direct flights between London Gatwick and Bangkok,” said Bjørn Tore Larsen, CEO and Founder of Norse Atlantic Airways. “This addition strengthens our network and provides travelers with more options at competitive prices. We are dedicated to offering comfortable and enjoyable travel experiences to sought-after destinations.”
Alongside the launch of the Gatwick to Bangkok flights, Norse Atlantic is also increasing its existing services to Bangkok from Scandinavia. Beginning December 5, 2025, flight frequencies from Stockholm Arlanda will double from two to four weekly flights. Flights from Oslo will also see an increase from three to four times weekly, commencing December 3, 2025. With one-way fares starting at SEK 3546 from Stockholm and NOK 2578 from Oslo, travelers from these regions are soon to enjoy enhanced access to the popular winter sun destination.
Bangkok, known for its rich culture, beautiful temples, and vibrant street life, has long been favored among Norse Atlantic's passengers. The new direct flight from London, alongside increased frequencies from Scandinavia, is expected to significantly boost the appeal of Bangkok for holidaymakers eager for affordable access to Thailand.
On another front, Qatar Airways is also making headlines with its increased flight frequencies to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi International Airport (BKK). Starting June 28, 2025, the Doha-based airline will operate flights on this route 11 times per week using its Airbus A380 aircraft. This schedule will extend until October 25, 2025, coinciding with Thailand's peak tourist season.
The decision to increase flights was driven by rising demand, prompting Qatar Airways to adjust its operations from initially planned daily flights to the ramped-up service. The A380, known for its capacity, will cater to the expected influx of tourists, with the aircraft accommodating 517 passengers across three classes.
“We have so many restrictions and so many airports around the world,” said Badar Al Meer, the current CEO of Qatar Airways. “The A380 is the best option to operate to certain airports.”
The increase aligns with Thailand’s projection of welcoming 40 million visitors by 2025, highlighting the strategic importance of Bangkok as a key tourist destination. According to the data released by aviation analytics company Cirium, Qatar Airways' A380s will facilitate transport for thousands of tourists eager to explore Thailand during its traditionally rainy season, which, albeit wet, often features brief showers.
This announcement reflects the broader trends of increased air travel as countries ease restrictions and tourism rebounds post-pandemic. With airlines like Norse Atlantic Airways and Qatar Airways responding to this renewed interest, Bangkok is set to become even more accessible for international travelers.
Bjørn Tore Larsen's excitement about the London route points to the continuous growth of affordable long-haul options, ensuring passengers have luxury travel experiences at reasonable prices. Meanwhile, Qatar Airways' commitment to the Airbus A380 demonstrates the growing importance of accommodating tourist demand effectively.
Overall, with increased flight options from both European and Asian hubs to Bangkok, travelers can look forward to exciting adventures and cultural experiences as winter holidays approach, making now the perfect time for potential holidaymakers to plan their trips to Thailand.
