Niyanko Stars' Super 3suke Announces Marriage

Comedian Higashino Kouji reveals the unexpected news on his radio show, surprising fans around Japan.

Japanese comedian Higashino Kouji revealed on February 28 during his radio show, "Higashino Kouji's Honmono Radio," broadcasted late at night on ABC Radio, the surprising news of the marriage of Niyanko Star's Super 3suke. He opened the show casually, saying, "Ladies and gentlemen, this is shocking news. Those writing on the internet may find themselves compelled to type it out quickly." He then confirmed, "Super 3suke from Niyanko Star has gotten married!"

Though Higashino did not disclose specific details about Super 3suke's spouse or the wedding itself, he mentioned having had dinner with him recently, hinting at aspects of their friendship. Super 3suke, whose real name is 41-year-old Koji Matsui, gained fame as the "tsukkomi" (straight man) of his comedy duo, alongside partner Angola Village. The duo formed Niyanko Star in 2017 and quickly made waves, reaching the finals of the "King of Conte 2017" competition just five months after their formation.

During the initial days of their duo's success, it was revealed their relationship extended beyond professional ties, with the pair previously dating. Nevertheless, they announced their breakup through their YouTube channel in 2020, signifying the end of their personal relationship.

Returning to the marriage announcement, Higashino shared light-hearted anecdotes from their recent dinner together. Initially, they had planned to invite another colleague who goes by the nickname "Fukuyama Masaharu of Yoshimoto", but he declined, leaving Super 3suke to accept. The dinner, which involved the three comedians, turned somewhat humorous as Super 3suke became increasingly intoxicated, to the point of declaring, "I don’t watch Waidna Show!" indicating he might not be the best at handling certain social cues, especially under the influence.

Higashino mentioned feeling concerned, reminiscing about how they had once shared experiences on various shows together, including "Marco Polori" on Kansai TV. He recalled thinking during their meal, "Are you okay?" when Super 3suke's behavior became more casual. The topic of wedding congratulations came up when Higashino addressed the group, responsible for sending their best wishes, explaining, "I just said, ‘Congrats!’ and nothing much else about it.”

After wrapping up dinner, Higashino humorously noted how he presented Super 3suke with taxi fare, dubbing it not quite as a wedding gift but more of an ethical gesture, reflecting the camaraderie among colleagues. The following evening, after Higashino returned home, Super 3suke reportedly asked his colleague Watanabe Atsumu to continue the night out, addressing him as "Brother! Let’s go to the next spot!"— even after they had just met.

Despite this jovial tone, Higashino also highlighted his caution over how much Super 3suke indulged, noting he joked about having the taxi fare gift he had just received from Higashino at his disposal. "Super 3suke said, ‘I’ve got the 10,000 yen from Higashino-san, so let’s keep the evening rolling!" This prompted laughter from his colleagues, including Higashino, who responded, "I said it was merely to be polite, not as something mandatory to return later.”

Super 3suke's marriage certainly becomes noteworthy against the backdrop of Japan's vibrant entertainment industry, known for its complex personal dynamics. This public announcement not only reinvigorates fond memories among fans but also sparks discussions about the ever-volatile personal lives of comedians, often veiled behind their on-stage personas. The fact they have shared humorous but candid stories about relationships and familial ties adds depth to their public image and enhances the fan connection.

Fans may find it interesting to note how such announcements contribute to narratives surrounding public figures, with the lines between private lives and public identities often blurred. Super 3suke’s whirlwind rise to fame, spurred by comedic fame, culminates with such personal developments, inviting speculation and celebration from audiences who followed his comedic evolution.

Higashino’s jovial revelations serve as reminder of how personal connections within the entertainment world often become intertwined with professional aspirations leading to unexpected results, such as marriage announcements.

Marriages within the comedy sector frequently bring fans and peers alike to show support, and this incident is expected to be no different. Social platforms will likely be flooded with congratulations as fans reconcile their appreciation for Super 3suke's comedic contributions with their best wishes for his new chapter.
