The 97th Spring High School Baseball Invitational Tournament has kicked off at Hanshin Koshien Stadium, bringing excitement and competition from March 18 to March 30, 2025. Lastly, Kenta Takasaki from Gunma triumphed over Meitoku Gijuku from Kochi with a score of 3-1.
The excitement continued on March 19, with the first match featuring Tsuruga Kehi from Fukui, which overwhelmed Shiga short-term university with a staggering score of 15-0. In another intense battle, Yokohama from Kanagawa edged out Ichimata Wakayama from Wakayama, clinching a 4-2 victory. However, it was a challenging day for Aomori Yamada, who lost to Okinawa Shogaku 3-6.
On March 20, Nishinippon Institute of Technology from Fukuoka showcased their prowess by claiming a 6-0 win against Ohtubi University from Gifu. This marked an important milestone for Nishinippon, as it had been 38 years since they last celebrated victory in the invitational tournament. The standout player of the match, Daisho Ayato, an outfielder in his third year, made headlines by hitting the tournament's first running home run, solidifying his team's position in the tournament.
Alongside their impressive performance on the field, Nishinippon Institute of Technology also made headlines for their cheer. Following their qualification for Koshien last summer, they sought permission to use the Nishitan Clinic's CM song as their cheer song, which was met with enthusiasm from the clinic to incorporate it into the baseball spirit.
