Nintendo has officially announced that pre-sales for the highly anticipated Switch 2 will resume in the United States on April 24, 2025. This announcement comes after a prior delay due to tariffs imposed by former President Donald Trump, which created uncertainty around the pricing of the console and its accessories. Despite these challenges, Nintendo has confirmed that the price of the base console will remain unchanged at $449.99, while the bundle that includes Mario Kart World will be available for $499.99.
In addition to the console prices, Nintendo has also revealed the suggested retail prices for a variety of accessories that will accompany the Switch 2. While the main console will not see a price increase, several accessories will experience adjustments, largely due to the tariffs affecting imported goods. The Joy-Con 2 pair is set to retail for $94.99, up from $89.99, while the Pro Controller will now cost $84.99, an increase from $79.99. The Switch 2 Camera will also see a price hike, now listed at $54.99 instead of $49.99.
Despite the increases in accessory prices, the individual game prices remain stable. Mario Kart World will still be available for $79.99, and Donkey Kong Bananza will retail for $69.99. The package deal that includes Mario Kart World will continue to be offered at $499.99, maintaining its initial price point.
The pre-sale was initially scheduled to start on April 9, 2025, but was postponed to evaluate the impact of the tariffs and the changing economic landscape. Nintendo stated, "We apologize for the delay in pre-sales, and we hope this will alleviate some of the uncertainties our consumers are experiencing." The global launch of the Switch 2 is still on track for June 5, 2025, and this date also applies to Brazil, where the console is expected to launch simultaneously with the rest of the world.
In Brazil, however, there is still no confirmed price or pre-sale date for the Switch 2. Estimates suggest that the console could retail for around R$4500, but official communication from Nintendo is still awaited. The company aims to ensure that Brazilian fans will not have to wait long for their chance to purchase the new console.
The Switch 2 promises to deliver an enhanced gaming experience, featuring a larger screen, 256GB of storage, and improved graphics quality with HDR effects and 4K resolution capabilities. New functionalities, such as the magnetic connection for Joy-Con 2 and a new "C" button for game chat, have also been introduced in this model, further enticing gamers.
Among the confirmed games for the Switch 2 are titles such as Mario Kart World, The Duskbloods, Hades 2, and several others, including popular franchises like The Legend of Zelda and Pokémon. Existing games from the original Switch will receive visual upgrades, which will be available for purchase in both physical and digital formats.
As the gaming community eagerly anticipates the Switch 2 launch, fans are encouraged to stay updated through various online forums and groups to secure the best deals and offers as the pre-sale date approaches. With the console set to hit the market soon, the excitement surrounding its release continues to build.
