Ninh Thuan Province is at the center of urgent economic discussions following the recent inspection meeting led by Nguyen Hoa Binh, Vietnam's Permanent Deputy Prime Minister, on March 3, 2025. During the meeting with the Standing Committee of the Ninh Thuan Provincial Party Committee, Binh highlighted the need for significant efforts and strategic initiatives to meet the ambitious 2025 growth target of 13.5% amid the previous year's economic difficulties, which saw growth at only 8.74%.
The leadership of Ninh Thuan reported during the meeting about the various challenges impacting the province's economic recovery and growth strategies. They pointed out the substantial pressures created by external factors, such as global market fluctuations, rising raw material costs, and increased logistics expenses. These issues have complicated the province's socio-economic situation, making it difficult to achieve the set targets.
"To achieve the growth target set for 2025, local leaders need to continue focusing on removing difficulties and bottlenecks about mechanisms and policies, prioritizing the industrial and service sectors," stated Binh, underscoring the focus on improving the area’s regulatory framework to encourage economic development.
One of the major tasks is the completion of the site clearance, relocation, and resettlement processes necessary for the Ninh Thuan Nuclear Power Plant project. The provincial government has recognized the pressing need to finalize this groundwork within the year to avoid any delays. The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized, "The Government has always paid special attention to removing and supporting localities to soon put renewable energy projects and other initiatives to work," indicating the importance the central government places on green energy initiatives as part of the national development strategy.
During the discussions, leaders acknowledged the significance of adjusting their operational structures and reducing administrative obstacles to improve efficiency. Binh urged Ninh Thuan to be more decisive, emphasizing the necessity for local agencies to streamline their processes and prioritize effective decision-making. This strategic restructuring is considered pivotal for enhancing the province's operational capacities and meeting the rapid demands of economic development.
The meeting outlined the necessity to cultivate new growth drivers, focusing on developing traditional sectors alongside exploring potential innovations. Specifically, Binh highlighted the importance of infrastructure projects, particularly transportation systems, which play a significant role in connectivity and accessibility, both of which are key for stimulating investment and local economies.
Looking forward, Binh called for collaboration across sectors to create transparent environments conducive to both investment and local enterprise development. The meeting concluded with specific action plans targeting the removal of barriers faced by renewable energy projects, reinforcing the government's commitment to fostering sustainable practices amid rising energy demands.
Aside from the focal economic discussions, the same day also marked the celebration of the 70th Anniversary of Vietnamese Doctors' Day and the hosting of a national scientific conference discussing historical movements like the 'Long-haired Army' and the 'Three Guarantees.' These events reflect Vietnam's dedication not only to socio-economic growth but also to honoring its historical and cultural achievements.
Conclusively, as Ninh Thuan navigates through its economic challenges, the collaborative efforts between the provincial leadership and the central government are pivotal to ensuring the success of revitalization plans, which must be executed with urgency to fulfill the ambitious growth targets set for 2025.
