Niantic Offers Duplicate Timed Research For Road To Unova Event

Players receive additional chances to capture legendary Pokémon amid event challenges and fixes.

The Pokémon Go community faced some challenges as the Road to Unova event progressed due to technical issues with the game's Timed Research. Trainers discovered their Raid completions were at times not being registered, much to their frustration. Fortunately, Niantic has recognized this error and responded with commendable measures.

Due to the glitch, all players received duplicate copies of the Road to Unova: Raids Timed Research, which can be completed automatically upon receipt. This generous compensation was aimed at making up for the inconvenience faced by trainers. Affected players will benefit significantly by obtaining multiple encounters with legendary Pokémon, as detailed by Niantic.

“Trainers, thanks for your patience,” Niantic stated. “We resolved the issue preventing Raids from progressing toward Raid-related Timed Research. To make up for this, a free duplicate of the Road to Unova: Raids Timed Research will be granted to all Trainers globally.” This announcement came with details of the Pokémon available through this enhanced Timed Research, including Terrakion, Cobalion, Virizion, Tornadus (Therian Forme), Thundurus (Therian Forme), Landorus (Therian Forme), and various forms of Genesect. Trainers are also promised rewards of 10 Reshiram, Zekrom, and Kyurem Candy after catching these eleven legendaries.

The Road to Unova event serves as the lead-up to the highly anticipated Go Tour: Unova Global commencing at 10 am local time on March 1, 2025. Throughout this event, trainers are issued unique research challenges, including various research tasks and exclusive bonuses. Collectively, these elements contribute toward the thrill of the upcoming global event.

During the Road to Unova event, trainers participate not just to capture these sought-after Pokémon but also to take advantage of numerous lucrative rewards and features. Pokémon from the fifth generation, including Snivy, Tepig, and Oshawott, will appear more frequently. Attending this event also allows trainers to take advantage of the Remote Raid Pass limits increased to 20 until February 28, enhancing their ability to engage with five-star raid battles.

The event incorporates Masterwork Research: A Dazzling Aria available for purchase, allowing participants the opportunity to catch the shiny version of Meloetta. This quest, along with the Tour Pass system featuring both free and paid tiers, adds depth to the gaming experience. The Deluxe tier provides exclusive rewards, including encounters with Victini and new avatar items like Black Kyurem Wings and White Kyurem Backpack.

Significantly, the Road to Unova: Raids Timed Research includes tasks such as winning up to 11 raids with special encounters structured as follows:

  • Win 1 Raid - Encounter with Terrakion
  • Win 2 Raids - Encounter with Cobalion
  • Win 3 Raids - Encounter with Virizion
  • Win 4 Raids - Encounter with Tornadus (Therian Forme)
  • Win 5 Raids - Encounter with Thundurus (Therian Forme)
  • Win 6 Raids - Encounter with Landorus (Therian Forme)
  • Win 7 Raids - Encounter with Genesect
  • Win 8 Raids - Encounter with Genesect (Burn Drive)
  • Win 9 Raids - Encounter with Genesect (Douse Drive)
  • Win 10 Raids - Encounter with Genesect (Shock Drive)
  • Win 11 Raids - Encounter with Genesect (Chill Drive)

Rewards from these tasks involve additional encounters with various Gen 5 legendaries seeing action throughout the event period ending on March 1. Trainers must keep track of their achievements to maximize their rewards, as items and encounters will vanish when the event concludes.

For field work, spinning PokéStops during the event yield exclusive research tasks, which include hatching eggs for potential encounters with Karrablast and Shelmet. It’s reiterated by enthusiasts of the game to embrace this time to hatch event-specific 2 km eggs, gaining rewards like Roggenrola and Timburr.

Overall, Niantic's handling of the bug demonstrates their commitment to player satisfaction, and the lineup for the Road to Unova event is promising with many ways to earn rewards and explore new content. Trainers are encouraged to capitalize on the opportunity to collect as many Gen 5 Pokémon as possible before the opportunity slips away. The significance of what’s being offered is enormous, with such bests waiting to be caught.

Strikingly, the dynamic nature of Pokémon Go means players will need to remain engaged with the updates to grasp the full potential of these events happening around the Go Tour: Unova Global. There’s never been a more exciting time for trainers to get involved, capture, and challenge their way to becoming Pokémon Masters!
