NewJeans Seeks Third Consecutive Win At 2024 AAA Awards

The K-pop sensation prepares for another thrilling night at the Asia Artist Awards with record-breaking nominations and high expectations.

NewJeans continues to dominate the K-pop scene as they prepare for the '2024 AAA' ceremony, marking their third consecutive nomination for the prestigious award. Known for their impressive rise to fame, the group has cemented their place as one of the leading names of 2024, which many are dubbing 'the year of NewJeans.'

The annual event, officially known as the 9th Asia Artist Awards (AAA), is set to take place on December 27 at IMPACT Challenger Hall 1-2 in Bangkok, Thailand. With renowned personalities from both the music and acting spheres, this year's ceremony promises to be spectacular. Notably, IVE's Jang Won-young, ZEROBASEONE's Seong Han-bin, and actor Ryu Jun-yeol will serve as the ceremony's hosts.

The music category features some major names, including NewJeans, LE SSERAFIM, BIBI, SUHO, ZEROBASEONE, KISS OF LIFE, WHIB, BUS, DAY6, NCT 127, NCT WISH, QWER, TWS, WayV, and &TEAM, showcasing the diverse talent represented at the awards. This year's singer category demonstrates the festival's ever-growing prominence, especially with NewJeans contested for top honors.

Revisiting their accomplishments, NewJeans previously captured the grand prize at the '2022 AAA' for 'Performance of the Year' and Best New Artist. Following this, they achieved remarkable success at the '2023 AAA,' taking home two awards: 'Artist of the Year' and 'Song of the Year,' alongside winning six awards total—making them the record holder for most awards at the event.

Since their debut with the EP 'New Jeans' in July 2022, the group has surged to the top of both domestic and international charts, establishing their status as global superstars. The double single 'How Sweet', released in May, and their June Japanese debut single 'Supernatural' have both garnered substantial recognition, including record-setting achievements like performing at Tokyo Dome the fastest for any K-pop act.

The significance of their music is reflected internationally, with both songs making it onto several year-end lists compiled by major music outlets. 'How Sweet' was ranked among the 'Best K-Pop of 2024' by NME, Billboard, and Rolling Stone, and 'Supernatural' was acknowledged by The New York Times as one of the 'Best Songs of 2024.' Such accolades highlight NewJeans' impact and relevance on the global music stage.

Competing against other strong contenders like Day6, NCT 127, LE SSERAFIM, and TWS, NewJeans is expected to engage fiercely for the awards this year. Their previous accolades combined with current momentum lead many to speculate whether they will secure the grand prize for the third consecutive time.

The AAA has become increasingly accessible, with the ceremony broadcast live on MTN (Money Today Broadcasting) across South Korea. Fans worldwide will be able to engage with the event via real-time streaming on Weverse, with additional coverage available through platforms like Astro, Blast TV, and Japanese services J:COM and U-NEXT, allowing audiences from Malaysia, the Philippines, Vietnam, and Japan to partake.

With everything lined up for this monumental gathering, all eyes will be on NewJeans as they aim for another historic evening at the AAA. Will they achieve their third straight victory? The excitement surrounding the event and their anticipated performances will surely make this year's AAA unforgettable.
