New Precure Series 'Kimi To Idol Pretty Cure' Launches February 2025

The latest installment centers on friendship and idol-themed adventures with vibrant characters and musical performances.

The beloved anime series Precure, known for its empowering themes and vibrant storytelling, is set to launch its 22nd installment, titled Kimi to Idol Pretty Cure, premiering on February 2, 2025. This latest addition will air on ABC Television and TV-Asahi, reaching audiences nationwide through 24 affiliated channels.

For nearly two decades, the Precure series has captivated fans with its diverse characters and engaging narratives. The new theme of Kimi to Idol Pretty Cure centers on the concept of idols, encapsulating the idea of friendship and support as the source of strength and brilliance. The tagline “You shine because I’m here, you grow strong because I’m here!” enriches the series’ narrative, offering fans both familiar excitement and new adventures.

The story follows the enthusiastic junior high schooler, Sakura Uta, who has always loved to sing. One day, she encounters Purilun, a fairy on a quest to find the legendary savior, the Idol Precure, due to imminent peril. Uta learns about the dire situation facing Purilun’s home, Kira Kira Land, which has been engulfed by darkness under the leadership of the villainous Darkine. Faced with the challenge of retrieving the stolen sparkles from the townspeople by the mischievous Chokkiri Gang, Uta decides to channel her passion for singing and transforms herself to become Cure Idol.

Uta is not alone on her adventure; she is joined by two friends: Aokaze Nana, who transforms to Cure Wink, and Shigure Kokoro, who becomes Cure Kyunkyun. These characters, voiced by talented performers Misato Matsuoka, Minami Takahashi, and Natsumi Takamori, respectively, embody different aspects of friendship, teamwork, and courage. Together, they promise to inspire the audience with their lively performances and charm.

"I was overwhelmed with surprise and joy when I learned I would be playing Precure, which I have admired since childhood," said Misato Matsuoka, expressing her excitement about stepping onto the iconic stage. Matsuoka asserts, "I want to deliver the sparkling energy I've received from many people to everyone watching the show. My character, Uta, is full of bright and clear energy, and I hope viewers feel the same positivity radiated from her."

Minami Takahashi, who plays Nana, echoed similar sentiments: "I finally met my destined Precure, and I want to shine hearts as well!" Meanwhile, Natsumi Takamori, taking on the role of Kokoro, confessed, "I still feel like I'm dreaming about this role. It's such an honor, and I aim to bring her heartfelt intentions to life."

Anticipation grows as the series prepares for its first event, titled "Ohirome Debut Live"—a performance aimed to showcase the newly transformed Cure trio. That's right! The event will take place across three notable locations: Yokohama's Landmark Tower on February 1, Nagoya's Aeon Mall on February 16, and Osaka's Grand Front on March 15, offering fans interactive opportunities to connect with their favorite characters.

Each character’s transformation and their catchy phrases like Uta’s "Kira Kira!" (sparkle sparkle!) and the lively battle cries during their performances are intended to make audiences smile, reinforcing the core message of unity and joy. The combination of song and action sets the tone for the upcoming episodes, all accentuated with colorful visuals and animation.

The series will also be accompanied by exciting musical elements. The opening theme, “Kimi to Idol Pretty Cure♪ Light Up!,” will bring to life the vibrant essence of the story, performed by well-known artists. With the musical talent from previous seasons like Ishii Ami and Kumada Akane, fans can expect nothing less than energetic and captivating songs. Not to mention, the trio will perform the ending theme, “Trio Dreams,” which encapsulates the adventures and bonds formed among the three main characters.

With the premiere drawing close, franchise producer Maion Nishimura aptly summarized the spirit of the new series: "This time, we are delivering all the 'sparkling' moments as each 'Kimi' shines through our efforts. Everyone can look forward to sharing the joy and the heartwarming messages as our heroines take on their adventurous journeys!"
