New Golfing Variety Show Debuts On ABEMA

Stars Yuta Mitura and Yuriko Yoshitaka lead the fun-filled competition starting March 22, 2025.

ABEMA is set to launch its fresh golfing variety show, STAR CHIP GOLF, featuring popular figures from Japan’s entertainment industry. The show will air its inaugural episode on March 22, 2025, at 9 PM, followed by another episode on March 29, 2025. Stars participating include the actor Yuta Mitura, actress Yuriko Yoshitaka, comedian Nobu from Chidori, and EXILE's NAOTO.

This unique program encourages its contestants, known for their love of golf, to engage in spirited competition using original poker chips as stakes. Each chip reflects performance throughout the game. Participants score points through both good and bad plays, where positive plays yield “positive chips,” and negative ones result in “negative chips.” Contrary to traditional scoring based on performance alone, the ultimate winner will be determined by the total number of chips collected by each player at the game's conclusion.

Yuta Mitura has revealed his best golf score is 86, Yuriko Yoshitaka's best is 99, Nobu claims his best score is 83, and NAOTO's is 81. Despite their individual performances, the show will focus not solely on their golf scores but rather on the camaraderie and entertainment value produced throughout the competition. Audiences can expect plenty of fun and strategic interactions as the celebrities navigate the ups and downs of the game.

The excitement surrounding STAR CHIP GOLF has been palpable, especially with Yuriko Yoshitaka making her first appearance on variety television outside of promotional events. Mitura expressed his pleasure at showcasing her strengths during the antics of the golf match, stating, “Yuriko’s great qualities will come through; watch how we have fun!”

Nobu from Chidori was equally delighted, commenting, “It feels like a dream to work with Yuriko!” The warmth of the interactions among the stars promises to be one of the highlights of the show.

Filming of the show has already wrapped, and the segments captured reveal great camaraderie and entertaining dynamics between the contestants. Discussing the potential for future projects, Nobu hinted at adapting popular golf-themed manga, “There’s this really funny golf manga among fans; we should really do something about it. I might pitch it to Netflix!”

Responding to Nobu’s idea, Mitura interjected humorously, “Let’s instead bring it to ABEMA!” Further showcasing the lighthearted yet ambitious spirit of the show, these moments signify the collaborative energy among the celebrities involved.

Aimed at golf enthusiasts and general viewers alike, STAR CHIP GOLF seeks to innovate how golf entertainment is presented on television. The involvement of familiar comedic and dramatic faces from the entertainment industry could potentially broaden the viewer demographic.

The two episodes of this high-energy variety series will depict golf not just as a sport, but as a venue for entertainment and connection among celebrity friends. Fans can eagerly anticipate what promises to be both riveting competitions and heartfelt insights.

With the premiere just around the corner, viewers are encouraged to tune in for the kickoff of this exciting new format. Golfer or not, the inviting atmosphere and the charming personalities of the stars are bound to offer memorable moments. Don’t miss the chance to witness what these beloved figures bring to the green!
