New Film 'Hilo Rojo' Explores Love And Destiny

An engaging romance delving deep between personal choices and fate, premiering on ViX for Valentine's Day.

Love, destiny, and emotional challenges intertwine as the new film 'Hilo Rojo' hits the screens of ViX on February 13. The movie dives deep not only just cute romance, but explores the ancient belief of the red thread of fate—a concept emphasizing the connections between individuals and the notion of preordained encounters.

During an exclusive interview with Us Weekly en Español, the film’s lead actors, Michel Brown, Carolina Miranda, and Mario Morán, discussed their experiences on set, their emotional journeys, and the various hurdles they tackled to portray characters caught by destiny.

"I have lived an experience of the Hilo Rojo, and I believe there are stories meant for you," Michel shared, reflecting on the film's themes. Carolina, on the other hand, found her career itself to be her ‘red thread’: "I’ve been running from acting for 16 years, and it hasn’t let me go. Something happens where it always connects me to this career.” Mario joined the discussion, agreeing he has encountered significant people quickly and unexpectedly, as if arranged by fate.

Interpreting passionate and dramatic love stories brings its own set of emotional and technical challenges. Michel recalled one of the film’s more intense scenes, humorously noting, "I had not had such an intense scene for quite some time. There was one moment when we were filming this intimate scene under 360-degree glass with everyone around. It was not easy at all!"

Carolina had her own struggles. She revealed her fear of heights made shooting another scene tough: "I have vertigo, and Mitch was checking if I was fine, but I had to manage it all as I was undressing!" Despite this, she described sharing strong chemistry with Michel during another unforgettable scene: "There's one scene at the café where our connection was so intense; it left us wondering, ‘Did this really just happen?’"

Mario faced personal challenges portraying intense emotions during the filming, which were exacerbated due to the recent loss of his mother. He admitted, "The scene where Abril tells Bruno she slept with someone else was tough. Very few times have I gotten angry to the point of shouting, and I had to channel those emotions here—especially during such a difficult time for me." Michel later praised his co-stars, declaring, "For me, it was the best sequence of the movie. Their performances were stunning!"

Beyond the intensity of filming, the actors shared lighter moments from shooting their scenes. One of the more amusing stories arose when Carolina arrived in Buenos Aires during the icy winter, having to shoot outdoors with light clothing on. "It was three degrees freezing. Mitch had acclimatized, but my hands were chilly! Every time they called ‘action’, I just wanted to avoid showing I was freezing!" she laughed.

When asked about how they would title their love lives, Carolina chose the series 'Amar y Vivir' ('To Love and Live'), but Michel was left speechless, acknowledging it was quite the challenging question.

With 'Hilo Rojo', viewers will meet not only an intense love story but also witness the emotional labor the actors put forth for each scene. Their splendid on-screen chemistry, alongside the significant personal challenges faced throughout the project, positions this film as one of the more anticipated releases on ViX this February 13.

Set against breathtaking locations and featuring passionate performances, 'Hilo Rojo' tells the story of Abril (Carolina Miranda), and Manuel (Michel Brown)—a rebellious flight attendant and a traditional businessman, respectively, whose encounters challenge their perceptions of love and life. Initially, they meet on a plane, feeling palpable attraction, but their lives take different paths.

Years later, as fate would have it, they find themselves reunited. Manuel is now married to Laura (Maya Zapata), and Abril is on another path with Bruno (Mario Morán), yet the flame of their initial connection remains alive. The film navigates through themes of longing, love unfulfilled, and the ultimate question: Can we challenge what fate has written for us?

Michel describes Manuel as, "a man who has always followed the rules, but when fate confronts him with his past, he starts to doubt everything he thought was secure." Carolina aligns with this notion, highlighting Abril's passionate nature: "She is passionate, yet love places her at this crossroads of decisions. How far can we go for what we feel?"

More than just another love film, 'Hilo Rojo' digs deeply under the surface, questioning the weight our decisions carry and how they influence both our lives and the people around us. This cinematic venture combines evocative cinematography, stunning landscapes, and soundtracks crafted to amplify every emotion.

With ‘Hilo Rojo’, audiences will not only be treated to electrifying love but also the bittersweet struggle of what it means to love deeply—whether or not it is predestined is for them to decide upon viewing.
