New Educational Program Supports Military Participants In Irkutsk

The 'Heroes of the Angara' initiative aims to help soldiers transition to civilian life through training and job placements.

Registration for an educational program aimed at participants of special operations and counter-terrorism missions is currently ongoing in the Irkutsk region. As of March 21, 2025, more than 570 applications have been received from interested individuals, revealing a strong desire for support and integration into civilian life.

Among those who have registered on the project website are five women and 20 military personnel who have been awarded the Order of Courage. This highlights the diverse backgrounds of those engaging with the program and underlines the commitment of these individuals to continue contributing to society.

Andrey Yuzhakov, a member of the public council dedicated to implementing the "Heroes of the Angara" program, has expressed that the active participation of those involved in special operations underscores the necessity and importance of such initiatives. "The activity that participants of the special operation demonstrate speaks to the importance and necessity of such a program," Yuzhakov stated.

Governor of the Irkutsk region, Igor Kobzev, emphasized the readiness of servicemen to exhibit their best qualities in peaceful life, having defended their country. He affirmed, "Those who today defend our Motherland are ready to show their best qualities in peaceful life as well." This recognition not only praises the bravery of these individuals but also points to the potential for their contributions beyond military service.

The "Heroes of the Angara" program is designed to offer soldiers training and help them secure employment in sectors where they can fully realize their potential. This transition will enable them to reintegrate more effectively into society following their military service.

Additionally, Yuzhakov remarked on the collaborative efforts through the involvement of the regional branch of the Russian Military Historical Society in promoting the educational project. He pointed out the significance of this initiative, stating, "Thanks to the program, returning home, soldiers will not be left alone with their problems but will be involved in the socio-economic life of the Irkutsk region."

Previously, Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed expanding the "Time of Heroes" initiative nationwide, encouraging local programs like "Heroes of the Angara" to facilitate this support on the ground. As a result, the local administration has developed a tailored program specifically for the Irkutsk region.

Registration for the "Heroes of the Angara" program is set to continue until April 14, 2025, allowing more participants to join the efforts aimed at smooth reintegration into civilian life. Details about the educational program, its aims, and application procedures are available on the official project website, IRK.ru.

This initiative represents an essential commitment from both regional leaders and national authorities to ensure that those who have served in challenging roles are provided with the necessary resources and opportunities to thrive once they return to civilian life.
