Netflix Rolls Out Season Download Feature For IOS

iOS users can now download entire series seasons with one click, enhancing offline viewing.

Netflix has officially rolled out its much-requested Season Download feature for iOS users, allowing subscribers to download entire seasons of their favorite shows with just one tap. This new capability, announced on January 29, 2025, provides the convenience of offline viewing directly to iPhone and iPad users, over three years after the same feature was launched for Android devices.

According to Netflix representatives, “We’ve heard downloading episodes one-by-one has been a pain point for iOS members — something we’re now addressing with this rollout.” The Season Download button can be located right next to the Share option on the display page of any series. Users simply need to tap this button, and the entire season will start downloading automatically.

Netflix highlighted the utility of this new feature, stating, “No more downloading episodes one at a time — this feature is perfect for members gearing up for a long flight, a cross-country train ride, or simply planning some offline downtime.” With the increasing number of users relying on mobile devices for entertainment on the go, this addition undoubtedly responds to the demand for easy access to full seasons, especially during travel.

Prior to this update, iOS users had to grapple with the tedious process of downloading each episode individually, which could be especially cumbersome when preparing for extended periods without internet access. Comparing this feature to its Android counterpart, Netflix aims to unify user experience across platforms—something they have significantly focused on improving following feedback from their subscriber base.

This improvement coincides with Netflix's broader strategy of enhancing customer satisfaction amid rising competition and increasing subscription prices. Following recent earnings reports, Netflix's total subscriber base reached a staggering 301.6 million globally by the end of 2024, reflecting the streaming giant's strong market position. The company has also announced revenue forecasts of between $43.5 billion and $44.5 billion for 2025, demonstrating confident growth.

While introducing the Season Download feature, Netflix also raised its prices across its various plans—seeing its standard plan with ads increase to $7.99 monthly, and the no-ads version now set at $17.99. This pricing adjustment emphasizes Netflix's commitment to enhancing its service offerings, but it also points to the necessity of maintaining value for customers as costs rise.

Netflix continues to innovate and adapt its platform. Recent additions, such as the Moments feature—enabling users to save and share favorite scenes—illustrate their approach to enriching viewer engagement. The company remains focused on connecting with audiences who desire seamless access to their favorite content, especially as they face choices among various streaming providers.

To date, several shows have become particularly popular, with Netflix listing the top five most downloaded series among Android users, including the breakout sensation “Squid Game,” which now also stands as one of the first major titles to take advantage of the new iOS feature.

Fans will no longer need to wait to download entire seasons separately, and as Netflix continues to grow, this feature is expected to be yet another step toward solidifying their position as market leader. The launch of the Season Download function exemplifies Netflix’s adaptability and attention to user experience, addressing growing demands amid their increasing subscription and accessing challenges faced by mobile users.
