Nelly Korda Dominates JM Eagle LA Championship with Incredible Performance
In a jaw-dropping display of talent, Nelly Korda has taken the JM Eagle LA Championship by storm, showcasing her skills and determination on the course. The American golf star surged ahead with a remarkable start, sitting at five-under after the first round. Despite tough competition from other LPGA Tour players, Korda currently holds the T2 position on the leaderboard.
While the PGA Tour has shifted its focus to the RBC Heritage, Korda remains unwavering in her commitment to the LPGA Tour, solidifying her position as a leading figure in women’s golf at just 26 years old. With an impressive track record, Korda is determined to make her mark at the JM Eagle held at the El Caballero Country Club.
During the first round of the championship, Korda achieved a remarkable feat by hitting all 18 greens in regulation, a performance that has left fans and experts astounded. This exceptional display of skill marks the first time since 2023, specifically at the BMW Ladies Championship, that Korda has accomplished such a feat in an LPGA Tour round.
Despite her stellar performance, Korda remains focused on areas of improvement, acknowledging that there is always room for growth in her game. She expressed her eagerness to enhance her performance further in the subsequent rounds, building on her success and aiming for her 16th career win.
Reflecting on her flawless first round, Korda shared her thoughts on her gameplay, highlighting her solid performance off the tee and into the greens. Although not entirely satisfied with her putting, Korda remains optimistic about her gameplay in the upcoming days, determined to maintain her momentum and secure victory.
With Korda’s exceptional talent and unwavering determination on full display at the JM Eagle LA Championship, fans and critics alike are eagerly anticipating her next moves on the course. Stay tuned as Korda continues to captivate audiences and dominate the world of women’s golf with her extraordinary skills and unwavering passion for the game.
The LPGA Tour returned to action on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at the JM Eagle LA Championship. With the first major of the season in the Chevron Championship taking place next week, this is the last time for players to really lock in as they prepare.
Among those who proved they are ready for Houston was Madelene Sagstrom, who carded the season’s first ace on her final hole for an opening round of 65. That is tough to beat. Korda finished right on Sagstrom’s heels though with a 5-under day at 67.
What stood out particularly was that Korda hit every single green in regulation on Thursday, April 17, 2025. It was the first time she has done that since the 2023 BMW Ladies Championship. Korda’s opening round had 8 total birdies, including 4 in a row from holes 3-6. That is a different level of locked in.
She ultimately had six approach shots from 105 to 130 yards away and landed them to an average proximity of 7 feet, 8 inches. I am going to go out on a limb and say that she is ready for Houston next week.
The JM Eagle LA Championship continues play on Friday, April 18, 2025, and can be seen on Golf Channel from 6-9pm ET.
