NEET UG 2025 Registration Begins; Exam Date Set

Candidates can register for NEET UG by March 7, 2025, for the exam scheduled on May 4.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially started the registration process for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET UG) 2025, which is set to take place on May 4, 2025. This annual examination is pivotal for candidates seeking admissions to various medical courses across India, including MBBS, BDS, BSc Nursing, and AYUSH programs. With registration open from February 7 to March 7, 2025, eligible candidates can apply via the official NTA website at neet.nta.nic.in.

One significant aspect of this year's registration process is the clarification from NTA stating, "NTA has clarifiedthat APAAR ID is not mandatory for NEET 2025 registration and encouraged applicants to use other means." This flexibility aims to ease the registration process for candidates who may not possess this identification.

Candidates can expect to encounter some changes in the examination format for NEET UG 2025. For the first time, the exam will consist of 180 compulsory questions, with 90 questions dedicated to Biology, and 45 questions each for Chemistry and Physics. The NTA has moved away from the optional question format used during the COVID-19 pandemic, reverting to the traditional examination structure of pre-pandemic years. The exam duration will still be three hours, and candidates must complete their responses within this timeframe.

The NEET UG 2025 exam will be conducted across various centers throughout India and will be available in 13 languages, including English, Hindi, Assamese, and others. This immense reach is due to the large number of candidates expected to participate; previously, around 24 lakh students registered, and this year, anticipations suggest the numbers could rise to between 28 to 30 lakh.

Students seeking registration should keep the following important details in mind. The registration fee will be set according to the candidate's category; for example, students belonging to the General category will pay Rs 1,700, whereas SC, ST, and PwD candidates will pay Rs 1,000. The NTA will also issue the NEET UG 2025 admit card by May 1, 2025, just days before the examination date.

It is also important to note the logistics behind conducting the exam exclusively in pen-and-paper mode, particularly due to the significant proportion of candidates from rural areas. Transitioning to computer-based testing quickly for such widespread examinations could pose substantial logistical challenges.

NEET UG serves as the gateway for candidates to enroll in numerous undergraduate medical courses, and the scores are used nationwide for admissions. For students hoping to excel across this competitive medical entrance exam, preparation becomes increasingly important. NEET UG assesses knowledge from diverse science subjects including Zoology, Botany, Physics, and Chemistry.

To assist candidates, NTA has provided comprehensive information through its official bulletin, detailing eligibility criteria, syllabus, and fees. Students are encouraged to review these materials carefully as they prepare for the exam. It is especially pertinent for candidates to understand the syllabus thoroughly and focus on important topics relevant to the test. The NEET UG 2025 is expected to cover various fundamental subjects within the realms of science.

With registrations already open, candidates are urged to complete their applications without delay, ensuring all required documents and details are correctly submitted. NTA has warned against any correction facilities post-registration, stressing the need for diligence before submission.

For those who may still be grappling with the idea of taking the NEET exam after potentially postponing or deferring their studies, it’s important to evaluate the benefits of preparation time against the challenges posed by taking this extensive examination. Mentors and coaching centers have been working to provide guidance and techniques to manage exam preparation efficiently.

Interested applicants will soon be able to find all registration-related updates on neet.nta.nic.in as they prepare for one of India’s toughest educational assessments. Updates on marking schemes, exam patterns, and syllabus will be released as the NTA finalizes its details for NEET UG 2025.

Finally, with the registration window open and only weeks until the examination, candidates must stay informed about all developments related to NEET UG 2025. The results are anticipated to be declared by June 14, 2025, when the NTA will release the scores and facilitate the admission process based on performance.
