From the very beginning, Nebraska took control, establishing their dominance by scoring the first seven points of the game. Larkins briefly halted their momentum with her own three-pointer, which was part of her 12-3 run to give South Dakota a 15-13 lead. Yet, Nebraska quickly responded. With Potts' notable performance, they ended the first quarter leading 29-18, never to be threatened again throughout the game.
The Cornhuskers displayed impressive shooting statistics, finishing the game with 63% accuracy from the field (41 for 65). Their three-point shooting was equally impressive, with 20 of their 34 attempts sinking through, marking 58.8% success. Adding to their stellar performance, Nebraska made all 11 of their free-throw attempts and dominated the rebounding aspect, outrebounding South Dakota 41-19.
