Naomi Watts is embracing her mornings as she reveals her daily routine and wellness practices amid the promotion of her new book, "Dare I Say It: Everything I Wish I'd Known About Menopause." The acclaimed actress, known for her roles in "Feud: Capote vs. The Swans" and "Goodnight Mommy," claims to be at her best during the early hours, sharing her unique approach to mornings.
"I’m at my best in the mornings," Watts told People. With her alarm set for 6:55 every day, she often wakes up just five minutes early, ready to tackle the day. "I take a lot of time winding down at night, but I go straight to my day. I get up on my feet very quickly and start the day with energy," she elaborated. A natural early bird, Watts contrasts herself with her husband, Billy Crudup, who is more of a night owl. "Usually, I’m up before him and let him sleep," she noted.
A significant part of Naomi's morning involves reflecting on her dreams, which she considers integral to her daily routine. "When I first open my eyes, I might think about a dream I've had and write it down. I think what goes on at night can give you clues, messages...that might be helpful for my day's work. That feels woo-woo, but I often analyze dreams," she confessed.
The mornings can feel chaotic, especially when it’s time to wake her teenage children, Sasha, 17, and Kai, 16. "I’m lucky if I can shove some toast down their throats before they leave," she admitted, painting a familiar picture of family life. After settling the household, Watts enjoys her morning ritual of black coffee, having transitioned from cappuccinos since moving to the United States. She exclusively brews with Peet’s coffee using her favorite percolator.
Watts also incorporates daily exercises to set the tone for her day. While she continues to enjoy yoga, her primary focus has shifted to strength training. "Most of the exercise I do now is strength training. Sometimes I go to the gym and sometimes I do it on my own with a video," she described. Keith Anthony, her longtime trainer, offers online classes which she frequently follows.
Refueling after exercise, she opts for nutritious meals like boiled eggs paired with avocado and tomato, yogurt with berries and granola, or other wholesome options, noting, "I like to not eat before I exercise."
The post-exercise routine includes her attention to haircare. Naomi has been using Hårklinikken Stabilizing Scalp Shampoo, recommended by friends for its effectiveness on thinning hair. "I’ve seen great results and have been using these products for a couple of years," she stated. Her simple moisturizing routine is completed with her own product, "The Power Move" by Stripes, which is known to cater well to sensitive skin.
At 56, Watts blends her vibrant morning routine with the insights shared through her new book, where she recounts her menopause experiences beginning at 36. It was during this time as she faced the challenges of balancing motherhood and personal wellness. "I dealt with menopause at 36, when I was still trying to have kids," she reflected.
Through her candid sharing of her daily habits and wellness practices, Naomi Watts emphasizes the importance of establishing healthy routines, from morning reflections to physical well-being, especially during life's transitions. Her approach resonates with many who seek balance and positivity amid the hustle of daily life.
