NAMM 2025 Show Unveils Groundbreaking Music Gear

Innovative products and community commitments shine amid LA wildfire concerns at Anaheim Convention Center.

The highly anticipated NAMM 2025 Show is officially underway at the Anaheim Convention Center, running from January 21 to January 25, 2025. This year marks the return of several major brands, including Fender and Gibson, after their notable absences. This event promises to reveal some of the most exciting new music technology and gear as hundreds of exhibitors showcase their latest innovations.

Initially overshadowed by the recent wildfires threatening the Los Angeles area, NAMM CEO John Mlynczak quickly reassured everyone with updates confirming the safety of the event. Remarks from Mlynczak stressed the importance of the trade show, stating, “This year, the NAMM Show will demonstrate our industry’s commitment by uniting as a community to support those impacted by the wildfires.”

Among the incredible announcements expected this year is the new Phonkify X from Tsakalis Audioworks, which promises to maximize funk vibes with advanced envelope filter and octave options. Tsakalis describes this new product as “not just a pedal – it’s a total vibe machine.”

Another exciting launch is Taylor's Gold Label Collection, which features acoustics inspired by the designs of the 1930s and ’40s, claiming to deliver “a stunning old-heritage sound unlike anything Taylor has ever produced.”

Electro-Harmonix is also celebrating its 50 years of phase shifting with a limited-edition Golden Small Stone Analog Phase Shifter, featuring chips from the original circuit, proving to be yet another crowd-pleaser at this year’s event. Meanwhile, IK Multimedia is introducing its TONEX ONE pedal with 20 custom presets created by rock guitar icon Joe Satriani, encouraging attendees to experience its remarkable features.

The event is not only about flashy new products; it is paving the way for many charitable initiatives. Gibson has pledged $250,000 toward relief for the victims of the recent wildfires. According to Gibson’s CEO, Cesar Gueikian, “The recent wildfires have deeply impacted our artists and friends in Los Angeles.” These statements reflect the growing concern for artists and communities affected by the wildfires.

While many brands are showing their innovative sides, not every company is participating this year. Notably, boutique brand Maybach Guitars announced their decision to withdraw from the show due to the impact of the wildfires. “We believe it is not the right time to gather for such events when so many are facing hardship,” the company expressed. Similarly, DiMarzio, the respected pickup maker, also withdrew, hinting at the somber mood cast by the devastating floods.

Despite this, the vibrancy of the NAMM Show continues, with notable representations from returning giants like Fender, which expressed gratitude for the chance to physically connect with industry veterans and fans. Fender CEO Andy Mooney emphasized, “We missed actually having a physical presence at NAMM;…we’re thrilled to be back.”

Product launches are expected to permeate the halls of the Anaheim Convention Center, from innovative pedals to groundbreaking digital solutions. Roland's introduction of its JC-120 Jazz Chorus plugin captures the essence of analog sound through digital technology, echoing the brand's commitment to provide musicians with tools adaptable for both live performances and studio settings.

This year also sees the return of iconic brands like Marshall, who will take the stage at their showcase event featuring guests such as Tom Morello and Nita Strauss, which has been transformed from a typical showcase to a benefit concert for wildfire relief. Marshall confirmed they would donate $10,000 to MusiCares to assist affected communities.

The excitement surrounding NAMM 2025 showcases the resilience of the music industry amid adversity. Attendees and exhibitors take the opportunity to network, showcase their latest innovations, and assert their commitment to aid those suffering from the destructive wildfires.

With so much happening at NAMM 2025, music enthusiasts can find plenty to be excited about, from innovative gear announcements to heartfelt commitments to community. All eyes are on Anaheim as it not only serves as the heartbeat of music technology but also inspires the indomitable spirit of the music community.

Overall, NAMM 2025 sets the stage for celebrating the passion, creativity, and connection within the music community, reminding everyone of the power music holds, especially during challenging times.
