Naju City Launches Tax Filing Period Until June 2

Residents can file comprehensive income and local taxes easily through online platforms and assistance windows.

Naju City is set to facilitate the reporting and payment of 2024 comprehensive income tax and individual local income tax until June 2, 2025. This initiative aims to ease the tax filing process for residents obligated to report their income taxes for the previous year.

Starting from May 1, 2025, taxpayers can file their comprehensive income tax through the National Tax Service’s Hometax platform. After completing this step, they can seamlessly report and pay their individual local income tax using Witax without any additional authentication. This streamlined process is designed to enhance convenience for taxpayers.

To further assist residents, Naju City will establish a dedicated reporting window at the Naju City Hall’s Tax Department. This service will specifically target those who have received the 'Everyone's Helpful Guide' from the National Tax Service, which includes small business owners, separately taxed housing lessors, and religious individuals.

In a significant move, the city has announced an extension of the payment deadline for certain taxpayers affected by disasters. Those residing in special disaster areas—including export SMEs, victims and bereaved families from the Jeju Airport passenger plane accident, and residents from areas impacted by forest fires—will have their payment deadline extended by three months to September 1, 2025. However, it is crucial for all taxpayers, even those with extended deadlines, to ensure their tax filings are submitted by June 2, 2025, to avoid incurring additional penalties.

Kim Kyung-soo, the head of the Naju City Tax Department, emphasized the importance of early filing. He noted, "On the reporting deadline of June 2, 2025, Hometax and Witax connections may be unstable, so it is better to file and pay taxes in advance." His remarks underline the potential challenges that could arise as the deadline approaches, urging residents to take proactive measures.

Meanwhile, in Jecheon City, located in North Chungcheong Province, the reporting period for comprehensive income tax and individual local income tax will also run from May 1, 2025, to June 2, 2025. Taxpayers with comprehensive income for the 2024 tax year can utilize Hometax and Witax for electronic filing, making the process more accessible.

Eligible taxpayers, including small business owners and those earning separately taxed rental income, will receive pre-notifications that guide them through the reporting process. The city has set up assistance windows at both Jecheon City Hall and the Jecheon Tax Office to support these taxpayers in their filing efforts.

In a similar vein, Taebaek City will operate its tax reporting period from May 1, 2025, to June 2, 2025, targeting individuals with comprehensive income obligations. Taxpayers in Taebaek, including small business operators and religious individuals, can report their income through various platforms, including ARS and mobile applications.

The Taebaek City Council has also established a reporting assistance window at City Hall to cater to seniors and disabled individuals, ensuring that all residents have the necessary support during the tax season. Additionally, the deadline for those affected by disasters, such as export companies and victims of the Jeju Airport incident, will also be extended to September 1, 2025.

In Gimcheon City, the month of May has been designated as the 'Individual Local Income Tax Reporting and Payment Month.' This initiative is part of the city’s effort to streamline the tax reporting process, allowing residents to file their taxes conveniently. The reporting period for individual local income tax runs from May 1, 2025, to June 2, 2025, with an extended deadline of June 30, 2025, for those meeting honest reporting criteria.

To facilitate the process, Gimcheon City will offer a combined reporting window at the City Hall, allowing taxpayers to receive one-on-one electronic reporting support. The city aims to minimize the inconvenience of filing separate local taxes by providing a comprehensive service that links national and local tax reporting.

Taxpayers will be able to report and pay their taxes through a real-time connection between Hometax and Witax, simplifying the process significantly. Furthermore, for taxpayers in special disaster areas, the payment deadline will be automatically extended until September 1, 2025, provided they have received approval for an extension from the tax office.

Officials across these cities have urged taxpayers to file their taxes early to avoid the rush that typically occurs as deadlines approach. This proactive approach is particularly important to prevent service delays and ensure that all residents can meet their tax obligations without undue stress.

As the tax season progresses, city officials remain committed to providing support and resources to help residents navigate the complexities of tax filing and payment. With various assistance programs and extended deadlines in place, taxpayers are encouraged to take advantage of these services to ensure compliance and avoid penalties.
