Nabd Endowment Initiative Aids Heart Patients In Need

The initiative has treated 200 heart patients since 2020, providing vital support to those who cannot afford care.

Doha, Qatar: The Nabd Endowment initiative is making significant strides in the healthcare sector by aiding heart patients who are financially struggling. Managed by the General Department of Endowments at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, this initiative has provided treatment to 200 heart patients since its inception in 2020. Currently, it plays a vital role in addressing the immediate needs of 70 urgent patients at Hamad Medical Corporation’s Heart Hospital, ensuring they receive necessary medical care.

The initiative, dubbed ‘Nabd Endowment’, emphasizes humanitarian work and extends its reach to impoverished individuals who are in desperate need of health services. During a recent press conference held at the General Department of Endowments headquarters, various milestones of the initiative were shared. Present were Eng Hassan Abdullah Al Marzouqi, Director of the General Department of Endowments, and Dr. Abdulwahid Al Mulla, Head of the Cardiothoracic Surgery Department at Heart Hospital, who provided insight into the initiative’s impact.

Eng Hassan Al Marzouqi discussed the importance of the partnership with Hamad Medical Corporation, which has been ongoing since 2020 under the auspices of the Endowment Fund for Healthcare. This collaboration aligns with the objectives set forth by generous donors who contribute to the Endowment Fund. Al Marzouqi expressed his commitment to continue this partnership, stating, “The Nabd Endowment initiative plays an essential role in fulfilling humanitarian responsibilities.”

Indeed, the benefits of the Nabd Endowment initiative are far-reaching. Dr. Abdulwahid Al Mulla highlighted the tremendous support received through this program, stating that it has facilitated numerous lifesaving surgeries and the implantation of crucial medical devices for patients lacking financial means. “The initiative also covered accommodation and treatment expenses, ensuring that the number of beneficiaries has reached 200 patients to date,” Al Mulla mentioned.

Furthermore, he underscored the cooperative efforts in alleviating the seriousness of patients’ conditions and enhancing their families’ well-being. “Heart Hospital implements the conditions set by our generous donors, ensuring assistance for patients who truly deserve support,” he added.

It is thorough vetting that allows patients’ cases to be considered. This review process is conducted by the Social Services Department and the Clinical Case Coordinators Unit, ensuring that aid is given to those most in need. Al Mulla expressed his gratitude to the endowment’s donors, acknowledging that their contributions profoundly impact the lives of patients and their families, igniting hope for recovery.

“It is enough for those standing there with pride and happiness to feel that they have restored hope to hundreds of patients, alleviated their pain, and relieved them and their families of the burden of operations and treatment, which they cannot afford,” noted Al Mulla. This call to action resonates beyond the healthcare facility, as it beckons a call for more charitable contributions to maintain the steady support for those in need.

The General Department of Endowments highlighted that endowments represent a community partnership and an ongoing charitable effort. The Endowment Fund for Healthcare is one of six specialized funds overseen by the General Department of Endowments, each designated to address specific needs within the society. The success of the Nabd Endowment initiative showcases a profound model of empathy and sustenance, ensuring that the obligation to care for society's most vulnerable remains steadfast and thriving.

To conclude, the accomplishments of the Nabd Endowment initiative represent the compassionate spirit of giving alive among the Qatari population. As more individuals are encouraged to heed this call, the future of this vital project looks promising, ensuring that healthcare remains accessible and attainable for all, regardless of their financial backdrop.
