Myleene Klass broke down in tears on Loose Women on Monday as she revealed how suffering four miscarriages forged an unlikely friendship with her midwife. The 46-year-old, who is a proud mum of three, couldn't contain her emotion during her appearance on the panel for the ITV show as they spoke about giving birth.
Anchor Ruth Langsford, 64, brought up the moment when Holly Willoughby, 44, got emotional after reuniting with the woman who delivered her daughter Belle, 13, on Michael McIntyre's Big Show on Saturday evening. This led Ruth, Myleene, Linda Robson, 66, and Denise Welch, 66, to talk about their birth stories. Then Myleene opened up about the special relationship she formed with her midwife.
Myleene said: "That really gets me, I love my midwife. We've become really good friends. It's probably because we had quite a different set up. She's just remarkable. We went through four years of miscarriages until I got my baby." The Hear'Say singer then started to well up, and Ruth asked, "That is a very, very strong connection?" Fighting back the tears, Myleene replied, "I love her, yeah." Trying to control her emotion, she added, "I don't think you get those relationships all the time with your midwife. I got to know her for four years."
The joke was often made, Myleene shared, about how it felt like her midwife and she were together on this intensive and heartbreaking emotional path. "To go through five pregnancies to get my baby," she told the audience. Ruth, reflecting on her own experience, remarked about her midwife forming lasting friendships through similar experiences. "He came to Jack's birthday parties when he was young," Ruth recalled.
Myleene nodded, noting, "That connection with another woman you never knew you'd end up being friends. I never knew Pippa and I would end up being friends. Now I'm at her birthday parties, now I know her family." Myleene expressed how important this friendship became, highlighting how, during her most vulnerable and important days of her life, Pippa was there supporting her which deepened their bond. "We've kept the connection because she means so much to me because in my most vulnerable and important days of my life... she was there," Myleene said, her voice full of genuine gratitude for her midwife's support.
Myleene is mum to daughters Ava, 17, and 13-year-old Hero, whom she shares with her ex Graham Quinn. She also has son Apollo, five, with her fiancé Simon Motson, with whom she has been together since 2015. These stories reflect not only Myleene’s personal struggles and triumphs but shed light on the incredible challenges women face when it concerns motherhood and support systems.
Loose Women airs weekdays from 12:30 PM on ITV1 and is available to stream on ITVX.
