The Internal Revenue Department announced on March 1, 2025, applicants and beneficiaries for the Special Relief Program (STR) can now utilize the MyDigital ID to log in to the STR official site for inquiries and new applications. This initiative aligns with Prime Minister Anwar’s vision from the 2025 budget proposal, which aims to promote MyDigital ID as the primary tool for the public to interact with government services, thereby acting as the cornerstone of the country’s digital transformation.
According to the Department, "MyDigital ID serves as the singular identification proof for citizens to access various government agency systems." To facilitate this development, the department has integrated MyDigital ID within the MyTax tax system and the STR assistance system, enabling this as a Single Sign-On (SSO) option. This feature was first introduced on January 1, 2025, allowing users to check their Tax Identification Numbers (TIN) via MyTax.
Recent data reveals an impressive uptake of the MyDigital ID system, with over 578,828 users having accessed the MyTax system through this platform, indicating its security, reliability, and efficiency have been widely recognized. Official estimates suggest about 9,665,476 STR users will benefit from this enhanced functionality, with expectations of continued growth as STR applications remain open throughout the year.
The department emphasized users have the flexibility to log in either via MySTR or MyDigital ID on the STR official website, accessible at https://bantuantunai.hasil.gov.my.
