A vibrant cultural calendar awaits Munich residents and visitors with a lineup of engaging events scheduled for March and April 2025, showcasing everything from photography exhibitions to classical concerts. Among the highlights is the opening of 'Alles nur geklaut – Everything Just Stolen', the street photography exhibition by Andreas Geisinger, set to launch on March 1 at the POP-UP GALERIE GLOCKENBACH.
The exhibition delves deep, exploring the thin lines between authenticity and performance within our daily lives. Geisinger, who has made international headway with his work, reflects on these theatrical dynamics, inviting viewers to ponder how they portray themselves and the narratives they present. 'This photowork attempts to reveal authentic moments and hidden stories,' Geisinger noted during the presentation. The exhibition launch will feature DJ Tankut spinning vinyl records, ensuring the night is as atmospheric as it is artistic.
Later in March, on the 22nd, the Kulturhaus Milbertshofen will host 'Can’t Stop The Feeling', featuring the award-winning barbershop choirs HARMUNICHS from Munich and LADIES FIRST from Dortmund. For over 25 years, these choirs have consistently impressed audiences at the German Barbershop Championships. Their joint performance promises to be filled with heartfelt ballads and familiar pop hits, showcased through the lens of barbershop harmony. 'We are thrilled to continue our friendship project through this concert,' shares HARMUNICHS' representative.
On April 3, music will again take center stage as pop sensation Ivo Martin performs at Werksviertel. Known for his falsetto and lyrical storytelling, Martin has captured the hearts of the TikTok community with his relatable narratives. 'It’s remarkable how simple chords and harmonies can convey such strong emotions,' said Martin about his burgeoning career as he prepares to deliver stories and melodies to the audience. His ascent reflects the fusion of traditional pop and modern digital platforms, creating connections to his listeners.
Also noteworthy is the musical event on April 12 at St. Maximilian, where the MaxChor will present Mozart's Requiem. This concert marks the closing of the church for renovations, creating a poignant atmosphere. 'It’s going to be emotional, and we want to celebrate the spirit of this incredible venue with Mozart's music,' expressed Gerald Häußler, the musical director of the MaxChor. The performance features acclaimed musicians from the Bavarian State Opera, delivering both the Requiem and additional Mozart works, emphasizing the historical and cultural significance of the performance.
An additional highlight on March 1 is the Pasing Fasching celebration, taking place at the Pasing Arcaden. This festive occasion marks a colorful day filled with music, costumes, and community joy, highlighted for the first time by the symbolic handover of the Rathausschlüssel (town hall key). 'This festival unites people from the region, and we invite everyone to celebrate with us,' said Philipp Avramov, the Center Manager of Pasing Arcaden, emphasizing the event's community spirit.
Finally, the PATHOS Theater will present 'Paskudnik' on April 2 featuring Tubi Malcharzik's queer performance art, examining his own mixed German-Polish heritage through the lens of drag. This innovative exploration invites audiences to join Malcharzik on his artistic path, culminating with a post-show discussion to engage viewers on these inclusive themes.
Each of these events serves to enrich the cultural fabric of Munich, offering platforms for local artists, fostering community engagement, and celebrating diverse artistic expressions. This spring, whether through music, photography, or vibrant festivities, the spirit of creativity is alive and thriving across Munich.
