Multiple Highway Closures Scheduled Across Regions

Scheduled roadwork on provincial highways will impact traffic significantly starting March 4, 2025.

Roadwork over the next few weeks will lead to notable disruptions on provincial highways across Durham, Halton, Peel, and York regions. Motorists are advised to plan their routes accordingly as road closures are set to commence starting March 4, 2025.

Beginning with Durham, on March 4, 2025, two significant closures will take place. Notably, on Highway 12 northbound, between Talbot River Br, Ramara, and Atherley Rd, Orillia, one alternating lane will be closed from March 2 at 8 p.m. until March 8 at 7 a.m., and again another alternating lane will be closed from March 9 at 8 p.m. until March 15 at 7 a.m. Also, on Highway 401 westbound between Harmony Road and Simcoe St, Oshawa, one left lane will close from March 6 at 10 p.m. until March 7 at 5 a.m. Yet another affected route will be Highway 12 northbound between Highway 407 and Highway 7 North Jct, Whitby, closing the right lane from March 3 at 9 a.m. until March 7 at 3:30 p.m.

Meanwhile, Halton residents will encounter their own series of lane closures. Also beginning March 4, three distinct sections of Highway 403 will be impacted. From March 4 at 10 p.m. to March 6 at 5 a.m., two right lanes will be closed eastbound between Queen Elizabeth Way, Oakville, and Highway 5/Dundas Street, Mississauga. Further lane issues will occur eastbound between Highway 5/Dundas Street and Burnhamthorpe Road, where one alternating lane will halt traffic from March 3 at 10 p.m. until March 7 at 5 a.m. Lastly, on Highway 403 westbound between Highway 5/Dundas Street and Highway 5/Dundas Street, one alternating lane will close from March 3 at 10 p.m. to March 7 at 6 a.m.

Peel residents face the most extensive set of closures among the regions. On March 4, 2025, 18 various closures will affect traffic significantly. From March 3 at 10 p.m. until March 11 at 6 a.m., for example, the right lane of Highway 403 westbound between Winston Churchill Boulevard and Highway 407, Mississauga will be closed. Another closure will see the right lane of Highway 10 southbound between King Street and Old School Road, Caledon closed from March 6 at 9 a.m. through March 31 at 5:30 p.m. Increasing delays will also occur on the Queen Elizabeth Way Fort Erie bound between Winston Churchill Boulevard and Ford Drive, Oakville, where two right lanes will be closed from March 5 at 10 p.m. until March 7 at 5 a.m.

Massive roadwork is also taking place on Highway 10 northbound between Old School Road and King Street, Caledon, where one right lane will be shut down from March 6 at 7 a.m. until March 31 at 3 p.m. Meanwhile, all lanes of the Queen Elizabeth Way Fort Erie bound between Dixie Road and Cawthra Road, Mississauga will be closed from March 15 at 8 p.m. until March 16 at 6 a.m., indicating substantial impacts on traffic.

Adding to the complications on March 4 is the Highway 410 southbound off-ramp to Highway 401, Mississauga, which will be entirely shut down from 7 a.m. until 10 p.m. on the same day. Residents should also be aware of other closures on the Queen Elizabeth Way and Highway 403, as they navigate their travels during this hectic period.

York Region, on the other hand, has one closure scheduled for March 4, 2025. The right lane of Highway 427 southbound, between Zenway Boulevard and Zenway Blvd, Toronto, will be closed from March 6 at 10 a.m. until March 6 at 2 p.m. This may be less disruptive than the busier areas but is nonetheless important for drivers to note.

Overall, roadwork is slated to greatly impact traffic across these regions as multiple highways see lane closures for varying lengths of time. Motorists are highly encouraged to prepare for delays, seek alternate routes where possible, and stay informed through local traffic updates for the most current information.
