Mujirushi Ryohin To Open New Store At Tokyo University Campus

The new location aims to enhance local community engagement and sustainability initiatives.

On April 19, 2025, Mujirushi Ryohin will open a new store, 'Mujirushi Ryohin Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology Fuchu Campus,' in Fuchu City, Tokyo. Located within the 'West Tokyo International Innovation Co-Creation Base,' which is a newly established facility by the Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology on the Fuchu Campus, this marks the second store on a university campus, following Musashino Art University Ichigaya Campus which opened in July 2019. The store will operate from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM.

Mujirushi Ryohin has actively engaged in industry-academia collaboration with the Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology, previously participating in activities such as booth exhibitions at the university's cultural festival. In August 2024, they formalized this relationship by signing a collaboration agreement. The agreement focuses on areas such as utilizing agricultural products for product development and supporting sales demonstrations within university facilities.

According to the company, the core concept of the store is 'stores becoming elements of the local ecosystem.' This concept aims to integrate the store as a part of the local ecosystem to enhance the quality of life for local residents while functioning as part of the cultural community.

The store will feature a dedicated exhibition space named 'NOKO TO GO,' which will showcase recommended items selected by students. It is envisioned that the store will engage in developing and selling products using agricultural produce from the university. This includes conducting verification experiments, market research, and hosting seminars and events in collaboration with the university.

In terms of offerings, the store plans to provide a diverse range of products required for daily life. Here, shoppers can find essential items like frozen foods, cleaning supplies, kitchenware, skincare products, as well as clothing items ranging from underwear to socks. Students, faculty, and local residents will also be able to buy snacks, beverages, and stationery items. Furthermore, a self-service coffee machine and a resting area will be established for customers.

Targeting sustainable practices, the store plans to implement a recycling-oriented strategy. It will include collection points for unwanted Mujirushi Ryohin clothing, plastic items, and paper hangers in efforts to maintain environmental consciousness. Additionally, a free water dispenser will encourage customers to bring their own water bottles, reducing plastic usage.

As part of its community engagement, the store will also participate in the 'Connecting Picture Books Project,' which involves donating picture books to local childcare facilities in Fuchu City. Through these efforts, Mujirushi Ryohin aims to positively impact both the ecosystem and the community.

With its focus on integration into the local ecosystem and addressing the needs of the community, Mujirushi Ryohin Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology Fuchu Campus hopes to enrich both student and resident life through its various initiatives and offerings.
