MSC World America Set To Launch From Saint-Nazaire

The new mega-ship aims to enhance the American market with sustainable cruising options.

The MSC World America, the second ship in the World class range, built at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique, is set to depart for Miami on Thursday, March 27, 2025. This mega-ship is designed to accommodate up to 7,000 passengers and is equipped with liquefied natural gas propulsion, marking a significant step towards greener cruising.

As the MSC World America prepares to leave the shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France, it represents not just a marvel of engineering but also a strategic move by MSC Cruises to expand its footprint in the American market. With its launch, the cruise line aims to attract more travelers and further solidify its position as a leader in the global cruise industry.

Marc Ferraci, the Minister of Industry, will attend the delivery ceremony of the MSC World America on the morning of March 27. According to the Ministry, Ferraci will visit the Chantiers de l'Atlantique before the ceremony, where he will meet with the shipyard’s leaders, MSC executives, local officials, and employees. The minister is expected to deliver a speech following the official delivery, highlighting the significance of this new addition to the cruise fleet.

After more than two years of construction, the MSC World America is ready to take to the seas. Measuring 333 meters in length, this ship promises a wealth of amenities for its passengers. It boasts seven swimming pools, including slides for family fun, 13 different restaurants catering to a variety of tastes, 18 bars for socializing, and two theaters for entertainment.

In addition to its passenger capacity and luxurious offerings, the MSC World America is designed with sustainability in mind. All waste generated on board will be recycled, and the ship will produce all the water needed during voyages, reducing its environmental footprint. The use of a liquefied natural gas engine is a significant feature, as it is expected to emit 20% less CO2 compared to conventional cruise ships, aligning with global efforts to promote greener travel options.

As the ship departs for Miami, it will mark a new chapter in the cruising experience, with the first passengers expected to board in April 2025. The anticipation surrounding the MSC World America is palpable, as it represents not only a technological advancement but also a commitment to responsible tourism.

The departure ceremony will be a momentous occasion, celebrating the culmination of hard work and innovation from the teams at Chantiers de l’Atlantique and MSC Cruises. As the ship sets sail, it will carry with it the hopes of the cruise line to redefine luxury cruising while prioritizing sustainability.

The MSC World America is more than just a ship; it’s a floating city that promises to deliver unforgettable experiences to its guests. With a focus on comfort, entertainment, and environmental responsibility, it aims to set a new standard in the cruise industry.

As the world looks forward to the return of cruise travel, the MSC World America stands ready to welcome travelers seeking adventure and relaxation on the high seas. The excitement surrounding its launch reflects a broader trend in the industry, where innovation and sustainability are becoming increasingly intertwined.

In summary, the MSC World America is poised to make waves in the cruise market as it embarks on its inaugural journey. With its impressive features and commitment to sustainability, it represents a significant step forward for MSC Cruises and the future of maritime travel.
