MSC Cruises is aiming to make waves as it prepares for the launch of its new, state-of-the-art ship, MSC World America, set to commence sailings from Port Miami on April 9, 2025. This flagship vessel is not only impressive for its size but also for its unique onboard attractions, including the highly anticipated over-water swing ride, Clifhanger.
To coincide with the ship's debut, MSC Cruises has opted for a vibrant advertising strategy, making its first appearance during the Super Bowl this year. The 60-second ad will feature beloved actors Orlando Bloom and Drew Barrymore engaging aboard the MSC World America, with Barrymore hilariously belting out Madonna’s catchy tune, "Holiday." This move marks MSC’s step toward amplifying its brand recognition as it expands its operations across North America.
According to the cruise line, the advertisement not only aims to uplift the brand's profile but also to showcase its signature blend of European style and American comfort, something the cruise line promises will be evident aboard the new ship. "Viewers will see the two acclaimed actors taking a vacation aboard MSC World America," the company said.
MSC World America is set to be the cruise line’s largest ship to serve the North American market, with cruise offerings including 7-night Eastern and Western Caribbean trips. Among the stops is Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, the cruise line’s private island destination boasting stunning beaches and amenities.
Bloom’s enthusiasm was palpable as he shared his thoughts on the ship, stating, “MSC World America is full of European style and is perfectly crafted for immersive and enriching experiences at sea. I’m thrilled to present this elegant new ship on America’s biggest stage, and I’m confident MSC World America will wow holidaymakers of all types—Americans and Europeans alike.”
Trotting right alongside them is Drew Barrymore, who expressed her pride in working with MSC Cruises, highlighting the company’s efforts to create joyful travel experiences for families. "I am so proud to work with MSC Cruises, which is a company...beautiful and joyful!" she said.
Alongside its marketing push with star power and catchy jingles, MSC Cruises has also unveiled the Cliffhanger, described as the first-ever over-water swing ride at sea, where guests can soar 160 feet above the ocean. This thrilling attraction will swing lucky riders out over the ship’s edge using mechanical arms, providing them with breathtaking views of the stunning Caribbean waters.
Rubén A. Rodríguez, President of MSC Cruises USA, called this ride “a natural next step,” following other popular attractions found on existing ships and added excitement about bringing thrill-seekers to experience the ride. "It’s the first time we’re taking thrill-seekers out past the deck and over the water, and we know they’ll love it," he said.
World America will also include several themed districts. The Family Aventura zone welcomed the Cliffhanger along with other kid-friendly activities like high ropes courses and playgrounds inspired by MSC's private destination. Other districts cater to guests of all ages, including Galleria, packed with dining and entertainment options, and the calming Zen Area, which offers relaxation and sunbathing opportunities.
Propelling forward with its ambitious expansion, MSC Cruises continues to carve out its niche within the competitive cruise market. With innovative attractions like Cliffhanger, star-studded promotional efforts, and its intention to offer breathtaking experiences, MSC World America marks yet another chapter of growth for the cruise line as it embraces vacationers from all corners of the globe.
With its combination of fun, relaxation, and thrilling activities, MSC World America aims to cater to families and adventure-seekers alike, promising memories like no other. This all begins from its sailing point at Port Miami, with routes to the bliss of the Caribbean just waiting for eager holidaymakers to pack their bags and set sail.
