Mrs. Doubtfire Musical Set For Düsseldorf Premiere

The stage adaptation celebrates family connections through humor and music as it opens November 6, 2025.

The beloved movie "Mrs. Doubtfire," which captured hearts worldwide more than thirty years ago, is set to make its grand entrance on stage in Düsseldorf this November. The eagerly awaited German premiere of the musical adaptation, based on the acclaimed comedy featuring Robin Williams, will take place on November 6, 2025, at the Capitol-Theater.

Produced in hopes of achieving the same success as its Broadway and West End counterparts, the German version will deliver an impressive performance that promises to engage audiences through its charming storytelling, dynamic choreography, and hilarious antics. Verona Pooth, a well-known media figure, attended a recent preview and expressed her excitement, along with her husband Franjo and their children, Rocco and Diego, who have already experienced the English version in London.

"The story revolves around an unemployed actor named Daniel who, despite numerous challenges, becomes 'Mrs. Doubtfire,' determined to be close to his children," Pooth explained during a press conference held at the Capitol. The production, based on the timeless tale, aims to merge humor with the emotional experiences of family life, appealing to both longtime fans of the film and new audiences alike.

According to Pooth, the film, released in 1993 and watched by approximately 5.5 million people in Germany alone, remains deeply relevant. "There are ups and downs in every family, just like ours. What matters is that we stick together and enjoy the beautiful moments life offers us," she noted.

The anticipation surrounding the production is palpable. Tickets have already gone on sale, ranging from €49.90, with previews slated to begin at the end of October 2025. With around two hundred performances projected until mid-April 2026, the theatrical team is hoping to attract upwards of 200,000 visitors to the venue.

Diego Pooth, Verona's 21-year-old son, was in attendance at the English version of "Mrs. Doubtfire" but was absent from the recent Düsseldorf event due to dance training commitments for the RTL show "Let's Dance." Meanwhile, Rocco, aged 13, who caught the movie for the first time at his grandmother's home, expressed his enthusiasm. "The movie was awesome! I want to bring half my class to the premiere, along with Grandma because she missed out!" he said.

Franjo, initially not a big fan of musicals, was reportedly drawn into the performance within the first ten minutes of the London show. "We were seriously moved, but when the show ended, it was tough to say goodbye," he confessed. His unexpected enjoyment surprised Verona, who playfully wondered, "What happened to my husband?"

The German adaptation of "Mrs. Doubtfire" promises not only to entertain but also to resonate with viewers through its captivating lessons on love, family, and perseverance in the face of adversity. Audiences are eagerly awaiting the opportunity to experience this delightful musical journey, which transports them back to the essence of a cherished film while presenting a fresh theatrical perspective.

As the countdown begins to the premiere, excitement continues to build in Düsseldorf and beyond. With a rich legacy behind it and a vibrant future ahead, "Mrs. Doubtfire" is set to reclaim its place in the hearts of families, reinforcing the timeless themes that make it a favorite across generations.
