The retail chain highlights shopping trends and prepares for customer needs during the holy month.

With the holy month of Ramadan 2025 approaching, MR.D.I.Y. Indonesia has released its Ramadan Insight report, showcasing key trends for retail shopping amid rising consumer interest. The report, which utilizes data gathered during Ramadan 2024, aims to offer both guidance to customers and insight to industry stakeholders on household product buying behaviors during this significant period.

Edwin Cheah, the Chief Executive Officer of MR.D.I.Y. Indonesia, highlighted the significance of the report, stating, “This insight serves as reference for both the public and the industry, aiming to help customers find ideas to fulfill their needs during the holy month and celebrate Eid (Lebaran).” The retail chain has identified itself as the go-to destination for household essentials, channeling over 18,000 products across ten categories to meet diverse demands.

MR.D.I.Y. boasts over 1,000 stores spanning from Sabang to Merauke, ensuring widespread access to its offerings. The company’s data showed three best-selling products during Ramadan 2024: gift wrap, neck pillows, and tableware such as plates and glasses. These findings reflect common practices during the festive period, particularly the exchange of hampers and communal meals.

Looking forward to Ramadan 2025, consumer preferences are expected to evolve. Cheah noted, “The upcoming Ramadan will see demands for functional products, including Lebaran decorations, sandals, sarongs, and envelopes.” Such items are poised to resonate during the holiday as families prepare to gather. MR.D.I.Y. anticipates remaining resilient amid these changes, maintaining its reputation as the primary shopping destination during this peak season.

According to the Ramadan Insight report, various household items will sustain their popularity, particularly containers, bowls, and food storage wares — necessities for serving traditional dishes during the holiday festivities. The top three product categories expected to see heightened demand include household appliances, gifts, and jewelry & cosmetics. The surge is attributed to the various rituals and traditions practiced throughout Ramadan.

“The demand for children's toys is also set to rise, particularly during this year’s extended Lebaran holiday period from March 29 to April 7,” added Cheah, outlining how families are aligning their shopping needs with planning for holiday activities.

The Ramadan 2025 shopping experience at MR.D.I.Y. is enhanced by its special promotional campaign called Promo Berkah Ramadan, which is active from March 1 to March 31. Customers spending at least Rp50,000 during this period can enter to win prizes, including the opportunity to undertake Umrah, enriching their Ramadan experience.

MR.D.I.Y. has enlisted popular couple Shireen Sungkar and Teuku Wisnu to engage shoppers during this festive season. Their involvement is not merely promotional; both celebrities are committed customers who share the importance of finding affordable, quality products for the Ramadan holiday. Shireen stated, “Menyambut Ramadan, saya mencari berbagai perlengkapan seperti toples, cangkir, mangkuk, serta hadiah untuk keluarga dan kolega. [To welcome Ramadan, I look for various supplies such as jars, cups, bowls, and gifts for family and colleagues.]”

Fans can expect Shireen and Teuku to appear at MR.D.I.Y. stores across the nation, celebrating the traditions alongside shoppers. With their charisma and influence, the celebrity pair aims to highlight selections ideal for enriching family gatherings and celebrations.
