Motor Lublin Football Club is riding high on the wave of renewed interest and potential within its ranks, as expressed by its Sporting Director Paweł Golański. With the team recently promoted to the PKO BP Ekstraklasa, Golański believes there is significant untapped potential among local fans, which can translate to future successes both on the pitch and financially.
While speaking to Eska.pl before the start of the spring season, Golański remarked on the club's nurturing and growing fan base. He emphasized, "I believe if there were a stadium with 25,000 seats here, it would be full for some matches. There is just so much potential in this city." His confidence was mirrored by attendance figures, with over 13,000 fans showing up for the first game of the spring round against Lechia Gdańsk. This enthusiastic crowd certainly reflects the city's passion for football.
With the recent surge of interest following the club's rise to the top tier, the organization is capitalizing on this momentum. Golański noted, "For example, more than 2,500 people attended the team presentation at the gallery to get autographs. Many people live for Motor." This level of community engagement is pivotal for the club's aspirations of not just maintaining but enhancing its presence within Polish football.
Golański detailed the club’s strategy for the future, highlighting some standout players such as Mbaye Ndiaye and Christopher Simon. Within the team, he sees these players as having the potential to be sold for significant sums down the line, indicating Motor Lublin’s ambition to develop talent to benefit both the players and the club financially as well.
"These are players with great potential," Golański stated, adding the aspirations tied to their development. Both players have already made their mark, with Ndiaye participating in 20 matches this season and scoring two goals, though he missed the opportunity for more against Lechia Gdańsk. Simon has also contributed to the team with two goals over his 15 appearances this season.
The emphasis on nurturing young talent is not only pivotal for the club's immediate goals but also for securing its future financial health. Golański expressed his belief, "If everything goes according to plan, soon both of them could provide Motor with much joy both on the pitch and when it would be possible to sell both players for considerable sums of money." This sentiment underlines the strategic direction the club is taking by investing heavily in promising young players.
Motor Lublin has welcomed six new players, including Hervé Matthys, Gasper Tratnik, Jakub Łabojko, Bright Ede, Franciszek Lewandowski, and Antonio Sefer, as part of their efforts to strengthen the team. Golański is hopeful these additions will contribute positively to the squad under the guidance of head coach Mateusz Stolarski. Stolarski’s coaching has already begun to pay dividends, fostering the talent and resilience found in the squad.
This balanced focus on community engagement, youth development, and professional growth signifies Motor Lublin’s ambition not just to survive but thrive within the competitive environment of the Polish top-flight league.
Golański's vision mirrors the organization’s commitment to not only pursue victory on the field but create economic opportunities through the sale of talented players, thereby establishing Motor Lublin as a force to be reckoned with both regionally and nationally.
While the future remains uncertain, the signs point toward a heady mix of excitement among fans, committed leadership, and rising stars poised to cement their names and those of Motor Lublin firmly within the annals of Polish football history.
