MOSES LAKE – A tragic drive-by shooting occurred on March 21, 2025, shortly after 9 p.m. on West Loop Drive in Moses Lake, resulting in the death of a 14-year-old boy and injuries to four other residents. The Moses Lake Police Department (MLPD) is currently conducting an intensive, around-the-clock investigation into the shocking incident.
According to MLPD Captain Jeff Sursely, the department has been proactive in executing multiple search warrants as part of their investigation. "Detectives continue an around-the-clock investigation into the shooting and several search warrants have been issued and executed," Sursely stated.
On March 22, 2025, law enforcement teams carried out a search warrant at a residence located at 1518 Buell Drive in Moses Lake, looking for evidence pertinent to the case. A vehicle believed to be involved in the shooting has also been seized by the police as part of their evidence collection efforts.
Alongside the tragic death of the 14-year-old, four other individuals were injured in the shooting. They were treated at Samaritan Hospital in Moses Lake. The victims included two females, aged 26 and 17, and two males, aged 17 and 13. Remarkably, all four have been reported in stable condition as of March 22.
The drive-by shooting occurred in the 500 block of West Loop Drive and created significant concern within the community. The scene was cordoned off until the following morning, allowing detectives and forensic teams to gather crucial evidence.
In response to the tragedy, the Moses Lake School District has stepped forward to offer support to students and staff impacted by the loss of their young classmate. They have made counseling services accessible for anyone needing assistance during this distressing time.
