The excitement on the runway is palpable as Moscow Fashion Week, which kicked off on March 13, 2025, in Manege, showcases the artistry of over 200 brands. Known for its honorable place among the top three fashion weeks worldwide—alongside Milan and Paris—this year's event has garnered attention not only from fashion insiders but also from notable celebrities.
Yana Rudkovskaya, a prominent producer who frequently attends key fashion events internationally, stated, "Moscow Fashion Week holds an honorable place in the top 3 fashion weeks in the world, alongside Milan and Paris." Having served as the ambassador for the renowned fashion house Christian Dior, Rudkovskaya is well-acquainted with the spotlight of high fashion.
Across 90 shows, thousands of guests filled the venue to witness collections from designers spanning 27 regions of Russia and 10 countries, including the USA, China, India, Turkey, Armenia, and Spain. This season's geography has expanded considerably, affirming Moscow Fashion Week's growing global influence.
Highlighting the opening events, celebrities—including actors, TV presenters, and influencers—graced the runway. Prominent figures such as singer Nyusha, artist Pavel Pepperstein, and figure skater Kamila Valieva were seen attending the shows. Among the notable appearances, Ksenia Sobchak, the host of the 'Fashionable Sentence' program, walked the runway for the brand Vereja, which presented its collection titled 'Patina of Patterns.'
With black making its debut in this collection, it added to the collection's mystique. Rudkovskaya attended the brand 'Addicted_To' on the first day and predicted unparalleled excitement throughout the week. "There are all conditions for realizing the potential of Russian designers," she said, reinforcing the event's importance for local talent.
The collection by Loom Weaving, embodying traditional Armenian crafts, showcased cozy, large-knit cardigans and sheepskin capes adorned with hand-embroidery. Soft fabrics mingled with flowing materials like chiffon, creating a harmonious balance of comfort and elegance.
Addicted_To... offered clothing steeped in style and quality with natural fabrics, allowing the materials to shine as they swayed with the dynamics of the runway. The interplay of textures continued with pieces featuring shiny, dense materials harmonizing with light organza.
The brand Abzaeva from Ulan-Ude presented modern interpretations of ethnic styles, highlighting local identity through textured fabrics, contrasting seams, and drapery, which conveyed the spirit of colorful Buryatia.
Vereja's collection, with its royal hemlines and crinolines, took the audience back in time. Alongside the grand designs, the collection also featured modern elements and was complemented by Pisarev’s accessories. This creates the environment of a spellbinding fairy tale.
Meanwhile, Alexander Rogov's brand embraced extravagant experimentation, focusing on bold leopard prints adorning various pieces, from outerwear to unique theatrical gloves. This bold aesthetic, paired with dramatic silhouettes, captivated attendees who relished the vivid storytelling present on the runway.
The Chinese brand I-LA catered to the winter months, showcasing stylish parkas and other warm clothing. Gone are the days of cumbersome layers—this collection features sleek, glossy pieces combined with chic corsets and flowing skirts, proving functionality can coexist with high fashion.
The event will run until March 18, 2025, offering guests lectures from experts, an open designer market, and the World Fashion Shorts film festival, celebrating fashion cinema's intersection with design. Organizing this grand affair is the Fashion Fund with the support of the Moscow Government, demonstrating the substantial investment made to promote fashion innovation.
Overall, Moscow Fashion Week reflects not just the creative spirit of its designers but also serves as platform for dialogue and appreciation between cultures, promising future collaborations and elevated standards of fashion.
