Morgan Wallen made a notable return to Saturday Night Live (SNL) on March 29, 2025, as the musical guest, where he showcased two new songs from his upcoming album, I’m The Problem, set to release on May 16, 2025. The 31-year-old East Tennessee native performed the live debut of "I’m The Problem" and "Just In Case," thrilling fans with his powerful vocals and engaging stage presence.
Wallen was introduced by host Mikey Madison and took to the iconic 30 Rock stage, where he performed "I’m The Problem" for the first time. Accompanied by his touring band, which includes Mark Taco Annino, Luke Cowboy Rice, Tyler Tomlinson, Dominic Frost, Chris Gladden, and Tony Aichele, Wallen strummed his acoustic guitar while delivering heartfelt lyrics that resonate with many of his fans. The set was creatively designed to resemble an investigation office, complete with an evidence board that humorously analyzed why Wallen might be considered "the problem" in his life and career.
During his performance, Wallen sang, "I guess I’m the problem/ And you’re Miss Never do no wrong/ If I’m so awful/ Then why’d you stick around this long?/ And if it’s the whiskey/ Then why you keep on pullin’ it off the shelf?" These lyrics reflect the introspective nature of his songwriting, a hallmark of his music that has garnered him a loyal fanbase.
After a few entertaining skits on the show, Wallen returned to perform his second song, "Just In Case." The performance maintained the same investigation office theme but featured a gray curtain backdrop instead of the evidence board. A television in the background displayed the MWBC: Morgan Wallen Broadcast Corporation channel, showcasing titles and track numbers from his forthcoming 37-track album. This includes songs like "I Got Better" (Track #2), "What I Want (feat.____)" (Track #4), "Skoal, Chevy and Browning" (Track #8), and many more.
Concluding his second performance, Wallen playfully declared, "Praise The Lord and Go Vols, baby!" while donning a black Henley, ripped jeans, and a camouflage Harley-Davidson hat. This appearance marks Wallen's second time as a musical guest on SNL; his first was in December 2020 during the show’s 46th season, where he performed hits from his record-breaking album, Dangerous: The Double Album.
Wallen’s upcoming album, I’m The Problem, features a variety of tracks, including "I’m A Little Crazy," "Lies Lies Lies," "Smile," "Love Somebody," and a poignant unreleased track titled "Superman," which is a heartfelt letter to his son, Indigo. This new album follows his previous successes, including Dangerous: The Double Album and One Thing At A Time, both of which have achieved significant acclaim, ranking No. 1 and No. 6 on Billboard’s Top 200 Albums of the 21st Century.
In conjunction with the album release, Wallen will host his first-ever all-genre Sand In My Boots Festival in Gulf Shores, Alabama, from May 16-18, 2025. The festival sold out in less than two hours and will feature an impressive lineup of headliners, including Wallen, Post Malone, Brooks & Dunn, and HARDY, along with special guests such as Riley Green, Bailey Zimmerman, T-Pain, Diplo, and Wiz Khalifa.
Moreover, Wallen is set to embark on a summer tour dubbed the I’m The Problem Tour, which will consist of 20 stadium shows. The tour will feature rotating direct support from renowned country artists like Brooks & Dunn, Miranda Lambert, Thomas Rhett, and Koe Wetzel, with additional support from Gavin Adcock, Corey Kent, Ella Langley, and Anne Wilson on select dates. This tour, alongside the festival, will be Wallen's only concert dates for 2025, making it a highly anticipated event for fans.
Despite his musical success, Wallen's public persona has often been controversial. Many fans have noted that he has leaned into his "bad-boy" image, which has become a defining aspect of his career. Known for his partying lifestyle and occasional run-ins with trouble, Wallen has made headlines for various antics, including a notorious chair-throwing incident. Yet, he continues to maintain a strong connection with his community and audience.
As Wallen prepares for his album release and upcoming performances, fans are eagerly anticipating what’s next for this country music star. With his unique blend of heartfelt lyrics and engaging performances, Wallen is sure to remain a prominent figure in the music industry for years to come.
