Montreal Rings In 2025 With Spectacular New Year's Eve Festivities

A night of music, fireworks, and celebration awaits at Vieux-Port and beyond.

Montreal is gearing up for exciting New Year's Eve celebrations as the city welcomes 2025 with an array of festive events. With numerous activities planned, the highlight will be the inaugural Igloo Nouvel An at the Old Port. Kicking off at 8 PM, the free event features renowned artists including CRi, Alaclair Ensemble, Robert Robert, Arielle Roberge, and Champion et ses G-Strings, promising an electrifying night of music blended with cutting-edge technology and dazzling fireworks.

The Igloo Nouvel An experience promises to be nothing short of spectacular. Visitors can expect to witness captivating visual displays crafted by Moment Factory, PixMob, and GFA Pyro, alongside exhilarating performances. CRi will set the tone, opening the night with impressive electronic music, followed by the infectious beats of Champion and the introspective electro flows of Robert Robert. Hip-hop enthusiasts will also be thrilled as Alaclair Ensemble brings their animated and communal spirit to the stage.

Combined with these individual performances, interludes will see local DJs and producers such as Laure, Tallandskinny, PØPTRT, and Arielle Roberge spinning sets throughout the evening. Roberge, who closes the night, is likely to keep the crowd dancing until the witching hour.

Ahead of the midnight festivities, locals and visitors can join the Buenos Aires festival Sous Zéro, offering cheerful activities during the day along with live music from Taima occurring from 5 PM to 8 PM. Following the Igloo Nouvel An celebrations, the event will also be broadcasted live at Place Jacques-Cartier, ensuring everyone can partake, even from afar.

Beyond the festivities at the Old Port, Montreal's Boulevard Saint-Laurent will see over twenty establishments extending their hours significantly. Some venues will remain open until 4 AM, with several going as late as 8 AM, providing ample opportunities for revelers to continue the celebration past the stroke of midnight. The Village area also promises an all-nighter with its vibrant nightlife and exciting drag shows lined up to welcome the New Year.

For those who enjoy traditional holiday tunes, the annual Noël dans le Parc festival is making its return this year too, featuring several musicians who will perform starting at 7 PM at the Quartier des spectacles with musical offerings centered around the festive theme St-Élie débarque en ville.

The transport administration, Société de transport de Montréal (STM), is extending its metro service hours to cater to late-night travelers, with services on the orange, green, and yellow lines running till just after the holiday countdown between 2:37 AM and 3:25 AM. This initiative encourages party-goers to revel without the concern of how to return home after the festivities.

With something for everyone, the New Year's Eve celebrations across Montreal promise to celebrate 2025 with enthusiasm and joy. From stunning fireworks lighting up the Old Port sky to lively crowds at local bars and music festivals, the spirit of celebration is set to take center stage as the city bids adieu to 2024. Whether dancing the night away at Igloo Nouvel An or soaking up the festive atmosphere elsewhere, Montreal's New Year's Eve celebrations will surely be one to be remembered.
