The Film Centre of Montenegro and the Moldovan National Film Centre have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation at the European Film Market (EFM) in Berlin, marking a significant step toward enhancing audiovisual sector collaboration between the two countries.
This agreement, signed by executive directors Aleksandra Božović from Montenegro and Valentina Iusuphodjaev from Moldova, aims to promote film culture through mutual support and exchanges. The memorandum includes plans for the screening of Moldovan films in Montenegro during 2025, followed by Montenegrin films being showcased in Moldova the subsequent year.
Alongside these screenings, the partnership will feature educational workshops, expert lectures, and panel discussions focused on fostering bilateral cooperation within the film industry. Networking opportunities for filmmakers from both nations are also central to this initiative.
“Signing this Memorandum is a significant step in strengthening cultural ties between Montenegro and Moldova. I believe this collaboration will open new opportunities for our filmmakers and contribute to audience development in both countries,” said Aleksandra Božović.
Valentina Iusuphodjaev echoed this sentiment, stating, “This Memorandum is the result of our joint efforts to build strong connections between our film industries. Through the planned exchange of film programmes and professional expertise, we are creating space for new co-productions and artistic collaborations.”
Meanwhile, Montenegro is also focusing on its defense capabilities. The Canadian Commercial Corporation (CCC) recently announced the signing of a government-to-government (G2G) contract with the Ministry of Defense of Montenegro for maintenance and repair (MRO) services. These services will be provided by Bell Textron Canada Limited for the Bell 505 and Bell 412 helicopters, which were acquired by Montenegro's military.
“Canada’s aerospace contributes nearly $30 billion dollars to the Canadian economy and CCC is proud to support the international success of one of its leading companies, Bell Textron,” said Kim Douglas, Vice President of Business Development and Marketing at CCC. “Bell is honored to provide the Ministry of Defense of Montenegro with our exceptional customer support and to assure the successful operations of their fleet,” added Chris Schaefer, Vice President, Global Customer Solutions at Bell Textron.
This contract signifies the continued commitment of both nations to strengthen their military collaboration, with CCC facilitating contracts worth approximately $300 million to date. It reflects Montenegro’s emphasis on modernizing its defense initiatives through reliable international partnerships.
Montenegro’s recent collaboration with Moldova and commitment to defense improvements through Canadian partnerships indicate its strategic approach to enhancing both cultural and security dimensions within its international relations.
