Monster Hunter fans can rejoice as Capcom has officially launched Open Beta Test 2 for Monster Hunter Wilds, offering players another chance to experience the game ahead of its full release.
The beta is now live on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, featuring cross-platform multiplayer. This time around, players can not only create their characters, which carry over to the full game, but also tackle story missions and engage in free-roaming hunts with multiplayer support. Among the new features added, players will encounter the game's flagship monster, Arkveld, and take on additional challenges against Gypceros.
The Open Beta Test 2 starts at 7 PM Pacific Time (PT) on February 6, 2025, and runs until February 9 at 6:59 PM PT. For those who miss it, there’s another chance, as Capcom will run the beta from February 13 to 16, also starting at 7 PM PT. "Players will be able to preload Monster Hunter Wilds open beta 2 from Thursday, February 6," stated Capcom's announcement.
One of the main incentives to participate in this beta is the reward system. Those who engage with the open beta will receive the Open Beta Test Bonus Pendant, featuring the adorable Palico, and the OBT 2 Bonus Item Pack, which includes useful items such as Raw Meat, Shock Traps, and more. "If you participated earlier, you can carry your character data to the full game," added Capcom representatives. This cross-functionality makes it rewarding for players to engage early.
Notably, the updates from the first open beta have been taken on board, with players currently testing the stability and performance improvements as the launch date approaches. The previous open beta faced criticism for low framerates, but many players dismissed this concern, emphasizing the ample time allowed for fixes prior to the full launch.
This upcoming open beta promises to enrich the player experience, offering character creation alongside new hunts. Players will also enjoy the addition of private lobbies for up to 16 people, enabling friends to team up directly, as well as the new training area for solo adventurers to refine their skills without pressure.
Capcom aims to surface feedback from players actively engaged during the open beta phase. By collecting this input, they hope to polish Monster Hunter Wilds for its official launch on February 28, 2025, and deliver quality performance and exhilarating gameplay aligned with the franchise's legacy.
With so much to discover and enjoy during this open beta, fans are encouraged to jump right in. They can find all necessary details about participating through their platform's digital storefront before the beta period concludes on Sunday, February 16. Mark your calendars and step back to the Forbidden Lands, where thrilling monster hunts await!
