Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta 2 Is Here With New Content

Capcom invites players to join the action with exciting new features and battles before the game launches this month.

Capcom is preparing for the much-anticipated launch of Monster Hunter Wilds, and prior to its full release, the company is rolling out its second open beta. This new beta offers players the opportunity to explore the game’s mechanics and engage with its expansive world—a chance not to be missed.

The Monster Hunter Wilds Beta 2 will run over two weekends, allowing ample opportunity for players to jump in. The first session starts on February 6, 2025, at 7 PM PST (10 PM EST) and ends on February 9 at 6:59 PM PST (9:59 PM EST). The second session follows shortly after, beginning on February 13 at the same time and ending on February 16.

Compared to the previous beta, which had limited access for PlayStation Plus members, this second round is completely open to all. Players can participate on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC—there are no sign-ups or beta keys required to access the game during the open beta period.

Downloading the beta is straightforward. Players simply need to visit their platform's digital store and install the Monster Hunter Wilds beta client. For those on PS5, the good news is there is no need for a PlayStation Plus subscription to access online multiplayer during the beta. The download itself is approximately 32 GB, making it relatively manageable for most systems.

What can players expect from the Monster Hunter Wilds Beta 2? The beta welcomes back many of the features found during the initial testing phase, including beloved monsters like Chatacabra and Doshaguma. Excitingly, it also introduces new content, including the flagship monster Arkveld and the returning Gypceros. Players can look forward to action-packed hunts, and to get started, they’ll experience the opening cutscene and tutorial with hunting mechanics in play.

The gameplay will feature various new aspects as well. Players will have access to the Character Creation suite, allowing them to design and personalize their hunter and Palico. This customization will carry over to the full game, meaning players can jump right back where they left off post-beta.

One of the standout features added for this beta includes private lobbies, which will accommodate up to 16 players. This functionality allows for more intimate multiplayer sessions, letting friends team up to tackle formidable foes.

Returning from the first beta are the mechanics allowing players to use SOS flares to request assistance from others. The Training Area is also back, enabling players to test various weapons without the pressure of battles.

Capcom has promised participants valuable rewards for taking part. Those who engage with the beta will receive the Open Beta Test Bonus Pendant and the Open Beta 2 Test Bonus Item Pack—containing consumable items such as Raw Meat, Shock Traps, and more to assist players during their adventures. This rewarding system is aimed at ensuring players feel appreciated for their participation.

Capcom emphasizes the need for player feedback, stating, "Our entire development team is hard at work reviewing your valuable feedback and focusing on improving the full version of the game.” They have encouraged participants to note any technical issues as this feedback is integral to refining the gaming experience.

For those curious about progression, it’s important to note: the character creation data will carry over to the full version for anyone who plays during the beta. While quest progress and inventory will reset, the customization work will not go wasted.

eIndustry excitement surrounding Monster Hunter Wilds continues to grow as the game gears up for its full release on February 28, 2025. With the second open beta set to offer new monsters, expanded features, and greater accessibility across platforms, players are encouraged to seize this opportunity. Equip your weapons, gather your friends, and prepare for action as this dynamic installment invites hunters to enter its wild arenas.
