Moldova Sees High Border Traffic With New Entry Refusals

Authorities report 36,497 crossings and recommend alternative routes to ease congestion

In the last 24 hours, border crossing points in the Republic of Moldova experienced a significant flow of people, totaling 36,497 crossings. As the country continues to manage its border traffic, the Police of the Republic of Moldova reported that the busiest points were Chisinau International Airport, Leuseni, Sculeni, Palanca, and Otaci.

According to the official statement from the Police of the Republic of Moldova, the most traversed crossing points included Chisinau International Airport with 13,894 crossings, followed by Leuseni with 4,235, Sculeni with 4,223, Palanca with 2,793, and Otaci with 1,641 crossings. These numbers reflect a robust movement of both citizens and foreign nationals across the borders.

However, amidst the high volume of traffic, authorities had to refuse entry to 21 foreign citizens attempting to cross into Moldova. The reasons for these refusals varied, but they highlight the ongoing vigilance of border control in ensuring compliance with national regulations.

In addition to the refusals, the Police recorded several violations at the borders. Specifically, there were two illegal border crossings, and three instances of individuals using false documents. Thankfully, there were no attempts at illegal crossings recorded during this period, which suggests a relatively stable situation at the borders.

To facilitate smoother travel and reduce congestion, the Police of the Republic of Moldova have issued recommendations for alternative crossing points. For those traveling through the Leuseni-Albita border, they suggest using the Leova-Bumbata crossing from 08:00 to 20:00 or the Cahul-Oancea crossing. Similarly, travelers at Sculeni-Sculeni are encouraged to consider the Costești-Stânca or Lipcani-Rădăuți Prut crossings as alternatives.

For the Palanca-Maiaki-Udobnoe crossing, the authorities recommend the Tudora-Starokazacie crossing as an alternative option. These recommendations aim to alleviate potential congestion, especially during peak travel times.

The Police also emphasized the importance of adhering to the rules and regulations governing entry and exit from the Republic of Moldova. Although there were no recorded violations concerning compliance with stay and entry rules, the authorities remain proactive in monitoring and enforcing border regulations.

As the travel season approaches, increased traffic at border points is expected. Travelers are urged to stay informed about current conditions at the border crossings. For real-time updates on border traffic, individuals can access the official website of the Police of the Republic of Moldova.

For additional inquiries or concerns, the public can contact the Green Line of the Police of the Republic of Moldova at 022 259 717. This service aims to assist travelers with any questions they may have regarding border crossings.

The situation at the borders continues to evolve, and the authorities are committed to ensuring a safe and orderly process for all travelers. As international travel resumes and increases, the Republic of Moldova will remain vigilant in managing its borders to protect the integrity of its national security while facilitating legitimate travel.

In summary, the recent data highlights the ongoing activity at Moldova's border points, with significant numbers of crossings recorded and a proactive approach taken by the authorities to manage and regulate border traffic effectively. With the recommendations provided, travelers can plan their journeys more efficiently, ensuring a smoother crossing experience.
