Modi Unveils Global Investors Summit To Boost Madhya Pradesh

Prime Minister Modi invites global investors to tap opportunities showcasing the state's industrial potential and innovation.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Global Investors Summit (GIS) 2025 on February 24, 2025, in Bhopal, urging potential investors to tap the abundant opportunities across Madhya Pradesh. This summit, described by PM Modi as a commendable initiative, aims to showcase the formidable industrial, infrastructural, and entrepreneurial prospects inherent to the state. Addressing a diverse audience of business leaders, policymakers, and international investors, he emphasized, "The Global Investors Summit is a viable platform to demonstrate the state’s immense potential for industry, innovation, and infrastructure. By attracting global investors, it is paving the way for economic growth and job creation. Happy to see Madhya Pradesh emerge as a key hub for business and entrepreneurship."

During his address, PM Modi stressed the current favorable climate for investments and highlighted his government's commitment to enhancing the ease of doing business. Notably, he announced efforts to establish a de-regulation commission aimed at identifying and eliminating outdated regulations hampering business growth. This initiative builds on previous efforts, where approximately 40,000 compulsory compliances were abolished to streamline business operations.

The Prime Minister pointed to key sectors poised for growth, including textiles, tourism, and technology. He declared India as one of the world's leading producers of cotton, silk, and viscose, with Madhya Pradesh playing a pivotal role. Not only is the state known for its Chanderi and Maheshwari sarees, but it also contributes roughly 25% of India’s organic cotton supply. PM Modi underscored the establishment of seven textile parks, including one currently being developed within the state, promising ample opportunities for investors to engage with the thriving textile sector.

Modi also encouraged investment in the health and wellness sector, noting public-private partnerships to boost healthcare services. He urged attendees to visit Ujjain, home to the revered Mahakal Lok, emphasizing how the city's rich heritage boosts local allure. "This is the time and the right time to invest," he implored both domestic and international business leaders.

Reflecting on the changes witnessed over the past two decades, PM Modi declared Madhya Pradesh's transformation from its Bimaru state label to becoming a vibrant economic hub. He pinpointed advancements in infrastructure and energy as key drivers of this remarkable transformation. With its impressive power generation capacity of 31,000 MW—40% of which is sourced from clean energy—Madhya Pradesh is positioned at the forefront of India’s energy revolution. Notably, the Rewa Solar Park, marked as the largest solar park nationwide, epitomizes the state's leadership within the renewable energy sphere.

Further showcasing infrastructure achievements, PM Modi revealed Madhya Pradesh's 100% rail electrification status. Under the AMRIT Bharat initiative, 80 railway stations, including the modernized Rani Kamlapati Railway Station, are now operating, marking significant advancements. Investments totaling around $70 billion (over ₹5 trillion) within renewable energy sectors account for the creation of numerous jobs, significantly bolstering the state’s economy.

PM Modi continued by introducing the principle of water security as fundamental for both agricultural and industrial growth. He pointed to the ambitious ₹45,000 crore Ken-Betwa River Linking Project, aimed at enhancing water management across the region. The Prime Minister also conveyed government measures to empower the middle class and stimulate economic advancement, including raising the income tax exemption limit to ₹12 lakh. These developments are intended to encourage both growth and stability within this key demographic.

The GIS Summit serves as more than just a forum for investment; it is integral to Madhya Pradesh's vision for rapid economic development. Modi reiterated, "The future of the world is in India! Come, explore the growth opportunities in our nation!" He articulated gratitude for the organizational efforts of the Madhya Pradesh government and highlighted the presence of over 300 industry leaders and representatives from over 60 countries, emphasizing the summit’s international focus.

Underlying his optimistic narrative, PM Modi reflected on India's remarkable potential for growth and the rising enthusiasm for collaborative efforts. He cited recent remarks from global organizations, including the World Bank, affirming India’s position as the fastest-growing economy. The OECD representative noting how "the future of the world is in India" and the UN's acknowledgment of India as a solar power superpower point to the trust placed on the nation’s capabilities.

He concluded by reiterative remarks on Madhya Pradesh’s potential, stating, "MP is one of the top states for agriculture and minerals," which can facilitate its ascendance among the top five depending on GDP. After two decades of focused governance and structural improvements, PM Modi articulated confidence—both national and international—in investing and growing alongside Madhya Pradesh.

With these developments set against the backdrop of the GIS 2025, the vibrant climate for investments is clear. The call to action for investors remains strong and inviting, embodying the aspirations for Madhya Pradesh’s and India’s economic futures.
