Modi Launches SOUL Leadership Conclave To Inspire Future Leaders

Bhutan's PM Tobgay praises Modi's leadership during the inaugural event focusing on youth and public service.

NEW DELHI: The first-ever SOUL Leadership Conclave took place on February 21 and 22, 2025, at Bharat Mandapam, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Attended by Bhutan's Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, the event aimed to inspire the next generation of leaders by providing them with insights from established figures across various sectors.

At the heart of the conclave was the School of Ultimate Leadership (SOUL), which has been described as Prime Minister Modi’s “brainchild.” Tobgay commended Modi for his unwavering commitment to nurturing capable leaders and enabling them to serve India effectively. "The School of Ultimate Leadership is yet another demonstration of your dedication to developing authentic leaders who prioritize public service," stated Tobgay during his keynote address.

Modi expressed hope for the SOUL program to birth visionary leaders who would drive change across different fields. Addressing the audience, he emphasized the essence of quality leadership beyond the political arena, citing the need for guidance across all sectors, from business to social governance. "Today, every Indian is working for the Viksit Bharat (Developed India) of the 21st century. We need leadership across every domain—not just politics," Modi asserted.

Detailed plans for the school were presented, with construction of SOUL’s new campus near GIFT City scheduled to wrap up soon. The facility, associated with the Gujarat Biotechnology University, will cover 22 acres and support comprehensive leadership training by focusing on merit, dedication, and the need for reform.

During the event, Tobgay underscored Modi’s role as both mentor and elder brother. He conveyed warm greetings from Bhutan’s King, emphasizing the strong ties between the two countries. "Prime Minister, my elder brother, every time I have the opportunity to meet you, I am inspired to work even harder as a public servant," Tobgay shared movingly.

Reflecting on Modi's governance, Tobgay drew parallels to historical leaders known for their wisdom and compassion, noting, "You lead with deep wisdom, bold courage, and compassion. It is this combination of qualities which places you among the greatest leaders of our time." He credited Modi for holistic initiatives aimed at improving the lives of many, including the significant reduction of poverty.

Also speaking at the conclave were notable figures from varied domains, including Indian ministers, business leaders, and other dignitaries. The event represented the launch of what Modi described as periodic gatherings for leaders dedicated to sharing valuable experiences and fostering new talent among the youth.

Having opened the platform for engagement, the conclave allowed for candid conversations on leadership challenges and successes, serving as both inspiration and learning for approximately 300 attendees, including young professionals, students, and entrepreneurs from various disciplines.

Tobgay, embodying the spirit of learning, stated, "I have come here as a student eager to gather insights on leadership. This is the ideal opportunity to learn from the greatest leader in the world, Prime Minister Modi." His sentiments were mirrored by attendants, all eager to cultivate skills necessary for impactful leadership.

The SOUL Leadership Conclave is not just about honoring illustrious current leaders but is also focused on paving the way for future leaders committed to serving the public good. With this initiative, there lies the possibility of reshaping leadership dynamics across India and inspiring countries globally.

Emphasizing the national focus on collective growth, Modi remarked, "India has emerged as a global powerhouse. Together we will work to expand this vision and create environments where future leaders can thrive and lead with integrity."

The conclave, framed by this vision of inclusivity and transformation, continues to serve as the launching point for SOUL's mission to create effective leadership models devoted to the progress of not only India but also Bhutan and beyond.
