MIPIM 2025 Unites Regions For Economic Growth And Partnerships

The global property conference emphasizes the need for collaboration between public and private sectors to drive regeneration and housing development.

As MIPIM 2025 concluded last week, the spotlight shone on growth strategies and partnerships within the real estate sector, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between public and private entities. This annual event, held in Cannes, France, is a high-profile gathering for cities and regions across the UK, showcasing their potential to attract investors and partners.

This year, MIPIM saw notable attendance from various regions, with London’s Mayor, Sir Sadiq Khan, making his debut at the conference. His participation underscored the event's significance in advancing regional growth plans and the UK Government's commitment to prioritizing economic growth and housing development.

Reflecting on MIPIM's role, Phil Mayall, Managing Director, attended to discuss how collaboration can unlock the economic potential of cities. "MIPIM is a chance for senior leaders to share ideas, collaborate, reflect on best practices, and identify future opportunities," Mayall noted. This summit served as a platform for unveiling strategies focusing on growth through regeneration.

The UK Government has firmly stated that growth is its domestic priority, and the commitment extends to building new homes. With regeneration at the forefront, creating jobs and supporting communities remains a priority. Yet, as highlighted at MIPIM, neither the public nor private sector can tackle this alone.

Plans were articulated for the ECF partnership with Legal & General and Homes England, which achieved significant milestones at the Manor Road Quarter in Canning Town. The project delivered 804 homes, half of which are affordable, and generated 437 new jobs, many of which were secured by local residents. Such initiatives exemplify how effective partnership can yield tangible community benefits.

Within this collaborative spirit, MIPIM birthed the Salford Strategic Regeneration Forum (SRF) in partnership with Salford Council, Homes England, and Peel Land. This forum is a platform for public and private collaboration, focusing on place-based solutions to promote inclusive growth.

Another landmark plan under discussion is the Arden Cross, projected to cost £3.2 billion. This redevelopment, supported by the HS2 Interchange, aims to deliver thousands of new homes and generate tens of thousands of jobs, embodying the region's growth potential. Partnership efforts here involve Arden Cross Ltd, Solihull MBC, and Birmingham City Council, among others.

Mayall emphasized the need for unified efforts to realize the regions' ambitions:
