Millie Bobby Brown Begins Filming Netflix Romcom Just Picture It

The Stranger Things star teams up with Gabriel LaBelle for her first romantic comedy, as Netflix teases a sci-fi twist and a star-studded cast.

Millie Bobby Brown, best known for her supernatural exploits as Eleven on Netflix’s Stranger Things, is swapping the Upside Down for a dash of romance and a sprinkle of sci-fi in her latest project. The young actress and producer has officially kicked off production on Just Picture It, a Netflix romantic comedy that’s already generating plenty of buzz — and for good reason. The streaming giant, Brown herself, and her production company PCMA Productions all teased the film’s first look on September 25, 2025, setting social media alight with eager anticipation.

In the first photo released by Netflix, Brown is seen sitting on a bench outdoors with her co-star Gabriel LaBelle, who is perhaps best recognized for his role in The Fabelmans. Brown, dressed in a red bra and shorts, sits comfortably beside LaBelle, who sports a sweatshirt and shorts, his arm slung casually around her shoulders. The chemistry between the two is unmistakable, even in a single snapshot. Fans wasted no time sharing their excitement, with comments like “Can’t wait!!”, “OMG I’M SO READY FOR THIS 😭😍,” and “so so excited!” flooding the official posts, as reported by Parade.

But the visual teasers didn’t stop there. Netflix also dropped a playful video clip showing Brown and LaBelle joking around with a camera. The words “Meet Bea & Sam. We are in production” flash across the screen, confirming that filming is underway. Brown herself added to the hype, captioning her post with, “ready or not, here we come ✨.” According to Deadline, this marks Brown’s first foray into the romantic comedy genre, a notable shift from her signature roles in sci-fi and adventure projects.

The premise of Just Picture It is as intriguing as its cast. The story centers on two college students, Bea and Sam (played by Brown and LaBelle), who are thrown for a loop when their phones mysteriously begin displaying photographs from a decade into the future. To their astonishment, these images reveal them as a happily married couple with children. What follows is a journey filled with humor, heart, and a touch of magical realism as the pair grapple with fate, free will, and the possibility that their destinies might already be entwined. As Netflix describes it, the film “promises a mix of charm, humor, and a touch of sci-fi magic.”

The supporting cast is no less impressive. Joining Brown and LaBelle are Amrit Kaur, Julian Dennison, Idina Menzel, Margo Martindale, Brec Bassinger, Anthony Keyvan, and Ben Jackson Walker. While details about their characters remain under wraps, the ensemble hints at a dynamic blend of comedic and dramatic talent.

Behind the camera, Just Picture It boasts an experienced creative team. The film is directed by Lee Toland Krieger, known for his work on You and Dead Boy Detectives, and written by Jesse Lasky. Brown is not only starring but also producing, continuing her evolution as a creative force in Hollywood. Producers include Joe Roth and Jeff Kirschenbaum for RK Films, with Brown and her father Robert Brown representing PCMA Productions. Alyssa Altman (RK Films), Jake Bongiovi (Brown’s husband and recent co-parent), and Isobel Roberts (PCMA Productions) round out the producing team, while David Kern serves as executive producer.

Brown’s involvement from the inception of the project underscores her growing influence in the industry. According to Deadline, she recently wrapped production on Enola Holmes 3, another Netflix project she both stars in and executive produces. The third installment in the popular detective franchise is expected to premiere in late 2025 or early 2026, although an official release date has yet to be announced.

It’s been a whirlwind year for Brown, both professionally and personally. In addition to her slate of Netflix projects, she married Jake Bongiovi in May 2024, and the couple adopted their first child in August 2025. Bongiovi, now an executive producer on Just Picture It, celebrated the film’s production kickoff with enthusiastic social media posts. Brown’s Florence by Mills fashion label chimed in as well, commenting, “can’tttt wait” on the first set photo, reflecting the excitement within her inner circle.

Fans of Stranger Things have plenty to look forward to as well. The final season of the beloved series is set for a staggered release, with Volume 1 dropping on November 26, 2025, Volume 2 arriving on December 25, and the grand finale landing on December 31. Brown’s portrayal of Eleven has been a defining role, and her transition to new genres signals a bold next chapter in her career.

Brown’s ambitions don’t stop at romantic comedies and detective dramas. She’s reportedly in talks to star in Gia Coppola’s film Perfect, portraying Olympic gymnast Kerri Strug, and is also adapting her novel Nineteen Steps — set during World War II — for Netflix. As Parade notes, Brown’s ability to move between genres and roles, both in front of and behind the camera, marks her as one of Hollywood’s most versatile young talents.

For now, Just Picture It remains in production, with Netflix keeping the official release date under wraps. However, with filming underway this fall, industry insiders expect the film to premiere in late 2025 or early 2026. Until then, fans will have to content themselves with behind-the-scenes glimpses and the promise of another heartfelt, genre-bending performance from Brown.

As the cameras roll and anticipation builds, Just Picture It stands poised to deliver not just a love story, but a fresh twist on fate, time, and the choices that define us — all through the lens of one of today’s most captivating young stars.
