Miley Cyrus Unveils New Single End Of The World Ahead Of Album Release

The pop icon's upcoming album Something Beautiful promises an immersive audio-visual journey with a glam twist.

MUMBAI: Miley Cyrus continues to build anticipation for her upcoming visual album Something Beautiful with the release of her latest single, "End of the World," accompanied by a hypnotic, sultry music video. The video opens with Cyrus silhouetted against a band, swaying sensually before cutting to intimate close-ups of her writhing on the ground in a shimmering green sequined dress. Shot through a dreamy, gauzy filter, she croons, "Let’s pretend it’s not the end of the world," capturing a haunting mix of nostalgia and defiance. The lyrics name-drop Paul McCartney and reference one last drive to Malibu, as she pleads, "Show me how you’d hold me if tomorrow wasn’t coming for sure."

In March 2025, Cyrus officially announced Something Beautiful, her ninth studio album, which is set to release on May 30. The 13-track project, co-executive produced by Cyrus and Shawn Everett (known for his work with Alabama Shakes and Kacey Musgraves), promises a bold blend of music and storytelling. Described by Cyrus as "hypnotizing and glamorous," the album draws inspiration from Pink Floyd’s The Wall — but, as she told Harper’s Bazaar, with "a better wardrobe" and a pop-culture twist. "It’s a concept album that’s an attempt to medicate somewhat of a sick culture through music," she explained.

Following the announcement, Cyrus dropped the album’s first two tracks: the spoken-word intro "Prelude" and the emotionally charged title track "Something Beautiful," the latter accompanied by a visually explosive music video co-directed by Cyrus, Jacob Bixenman, and Brendan Walter, with cinematography by Benoît Debie. The album will be paired with a full-length visual film, set to release in June. Produced by Cyrus alongside XYZ Films and Panos Cosmatos, in collaboration with Sony Music Vision, Columbia Records, and Live Nation, the film will be directed by Cyrus, Bixenman, and Walter. You can watch the video for "End of the World" now.

Miley Cyrus' new single has officially dropped, and fans are already freaking out. The track, titled "End of the World," is the third release from her upcoming album Something Beautiful, and it comes with a groovy 70s-style music video that feels like a cinematic time warp. The 32-year-old pop icon released the song in the early hours of Friday, April 4, 2025, and from the first few seconds, it’s clear she’s in full experimental, genre-blending mode.

"End of the World" is a dramatic and emotional track that showcases the immersive, operatic vibes Miley has been teasing for her next album. The video is a visual treat – Miley performing in a dimly lit room surrounded by vintage lights and a full drum kit, giving off major disco-era energy with a touch of glam rock. It’s moody, theatrical, and totally Miley. The release of this new single follows "Prelude" and the title track "Something Beautiful," both of which dropped earlier this week and set the tone for what’s shaping up to be one of Miley’s boldest musical eras.

According to her team, "End of the World" is officially the first single from the album, despite the other two tracks hitting streaming platforms earlier. On Instagram, Miley’s team shared a teaser of the music video and wrote, "Miley Cyrus unveils ‘End of the World’, the first official single off of her highly anticipated album, ‘Something Beautiful’, out May 30 via Columbia Records. The new single ‘End of the World’ out now." Fans instantly jumped in the comments with heart emojis, fire emojis, and the word "SLAY" in all caps.

Miley described her upcoming project as a "pop opera" and said it’s a full-blown audio-visual journey. Something Beautiful will feature 13 tracks, each one paired with its own music video, making this album more of a movie-like experience than a standard studio drop. And Miley isn’t just singing on this one – she’s also co-executive producing the entire album alongside Grammy-winning producer Shawn Everett, adding another layer of creative control to the whole thing. After the release of "Something Beautiful" (the track), Miley hinted at the emotional and stylistic depth of the album. "This era marks another bold artistic evolution for Miley, blending music and film into an immersive experience," said a statement on her IG page. It also mentioned her deep dive into fashion and art direction, noting that the visuals include original designs from Casey Cadwallader for the House of Mugler.

It’s not just about looks and vibes, though. The music is heavy with meaning. Miley told Harper’s Bazaar that the album is inspired by Pink Floyd’s The Wall, but with a glam twist. "My idea was making ‘The Wall’, but with a better wardrobe and more glamorous and filled with pop culture," she said. She called Something Beautiful a "healing" record and described her goal as being a "human psychedelic" for fans – changing their energy and mood with just a song.

It’s been over a year since Endless Summer Vacation dropped in 2023, which included the viral smash "Flowers." Since then, fans have been patiently waiting to see where Miley would go next – and it looks like she’s going somewhere totally new and unexpected. With "End of the World," she’s pushing her sound into theatrical territory, combining emotional lyrics with nostalgic visuals and rich, layered production. As of now, "End of the World" is available on all major platforms, and the video is live on YouTube, racking up views fast. The full album Something Beautiful is dropping on May 30, and if these first three tracks are any hint, we’re in for something seriously special.

In a surprise moment during the performance, Miley's boyfriend, drummer Maxx Morando, made a brief appearance, playing drums behind her during the emotional number. Dressed in black, he kept a low profile while still marking his subtle debut in Cyrus' visual world. The couple's romance began in 2021 after they were set up on a blind date. Though they mostly stay private, the couple has been seen more often lately. In March, they walked the red carpet together at the 97th Academy Awards and later attended the Vanity Fair Oscars afterparty. Cyrus has spoken openly about their age difference, noting how they view life differently but still share a deep connection. According to sources close to the couple, Cyrus is "very happy" and in a good place. "She seems more calm and harmonious. Everyone loves Maxx. He’s private and it’s been good for her," one insider told People.

As anticipation builds for Something Beautiful, fans are left wondering what the next chapter in Miley Cyrus' artistic journey will hold. With her innovative approach to music and visuals, she is poised to redefine pop culture once again.
