Miley Cyrus Dazzles At Met Gala 2025 In Bold Style

The singer embraces the theme of 'Superfine: Tailoring Black Style' while preparing for her upcoming album release.

Miley Cyrus hit the Met Gala 2025 red carpet on Monday, May 5, 2025, wearing a striking crocodile skin crop top and a voluminous black maxi skirt, embodying her bold, ab-flaunting style. The 32-year-old singer, known for her daring fashion choices, embraced the theme of "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style" in a custom ensemble by Alaïa, designed by Pieter Mulier. Her look was further enhanced by exquisite jewelry from Cartier, including a thick gold choker that elegantly surrounded her turtleneck top.

As the rain fell on the iconic Met steps, Cyrus styled her hair in a slicked-back braid, shielding her locks from the weather. This appearance marked her first return to fashion's biggest night since 2019, when she attended the gala with her then-husband, Liam Hemsworth. Over the years, Cyrus has graced the Met Gala red carpet in 2013, 2015, and 2018, each time making a memorable fashion statement.

During her time on the carpet, Cyrus spoke with Vogue, sharing her thoughts on the gala's theme. She expressed that it signifies "celebrating identity and uniqueness" and emphasized the importance of challenging expectations. "Really being proud of yourself and how you show up," she stated, adding, "I think of these gowns as, like, armor. It's a representation of power and strength. That's how I feel about fashion. So I love seeing everyone's way that they're showing up and presenting that power."

The Met Gala, held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, serves as a fundraiser for The Costume Institute and showcases the museum's spring 2025 exhibition, which focuses on Black style and dandyism. Curator Andrew Bolton explained that the exhibit, inspired by guest curator Monica L. Miller's book, explores Black style from the 18th century to the present.

Cyrus's fashion evolution has been a topic of conversation among fans and critics alike. In a recent interview with Harper's Bazaar, she discussed her upcoming album, "Something Beautiful," set to release on May 30, 2025. Drawing inspiration from Pink Floyd's "The Wall," she described the project as "hypnotizing and glamorous," aiming to medicate a "sick culture through music."

"The visual component of this is driving the sound," Cyrus explained. "It was important for me that every song has these healing sound properties. The songs, whether they’re about destruction or heartbreak or death, they’re presented in a way that is beautiful, because the nastiest times of our life do have a point of beauty. They are the shadow, they are the charcoal, they are the shading. You can’t have a painting without highlights and contrast."

The Met Gala 2025 was co-chaired by notable figures including Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams, and Anna Wintour, with LeBron James serving as honorary chair. The event also featured a star-studded host committee, including Simone Biles and her husband, Jonathan Owens, as well as Regina King, Spike Lee, and Usher.

Cyrus's Met Gala history is filled with memorable moments. In 2019, she honored the "Camp: Notes on Fashion" theme in a striking green-and-black sequin striped minidress, paired with sheer Swiss dot patterned leggings. She attended that gala with Hemsworth, who wore an all-black tuxedo. Their split came just months later, in August 2019, after less than a year of marriage.

Her fashion choices have often reflected her evolving identity and artistic vision. In 2018, Cyrus stunned in a backless Stella McCartney mermaid gown during the "Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination" exhibition. For her 2015 appearance, she rocked a studded black Alexander Wang gown, showcasing her ability to adapt her style to fit the gala's themes.

Returning to the Met Gala has always been a highlight for Cyrus. In 2019, she expressed her love for the event, saying, "My favorite time of the year is Met Ball. It's like a reunion with all your friends and it starts feeling like family. I'm also a big Lookie-Loo so I love to watch and judge and vote on what my favorite thing that anyone's worn."

As she prepares for the release of "Something Beautiful," Cyrus continues to push boundaries in both her music and fashion. Her latest looks reflect a blend of modern and timeless elements, with a distinct rock 'n' roll edge. Her stylist, Bradley Kenneth, noted that this era captures a richness and depth, translating her music into a visually elevated presentation.

With the Met Gala behind her and a new album on the horizon, fans are eagerly anticipating what Cyrus will bring next. As she steps into this new chapter, she remains a powerful figure in both the music and fashion industries, continuing to inspire with her fearless approach to self-expression.
