Milan Pursues Transfer Targets As Market Activity Intensifies

The Serie A club eyes Benfica's Gedson Fernandes and Standard Liege's Moussa Djenepo amid key player negotiations.

AC Milan is making headlines again as they ramp up their transfer market activities, focusing on potential signings to bolster their squad. The Italian club, known for its illustrious history and recent resurgence, is eyeing young talents to secure their position for the upcoming season.

One of the key targets on their radar is Gedson Fernandes, the highly-rated Portuguese midfielder who currently plays for Benfica. At just 20 years old, Fernandes has already made waves in the Portuguese Super League, showcasing his skill set with standout performances. This past season, he notched up 46 appearances across competitions, scoring three goals and providing six assists, which has significantly attracted the attention of several major European clubs, including AC Milan, Arsenal, and Bayern Munich.

Reports indicate Milan has initiated formal talks with Benfica over the midfielder's transfer. Although Fernandes has a hefty release clause of €120 million, both clubs are reportedly discussing a potential deal of around €40 million, which would be much more feasible for Milan. This interest signifies Milan's intent to strengthen their midfield and build upon their recent successes.

Meanwhile, Milan is also linked to another player, Moussa Djenepo, currently at Standard Liege. At 20, Djenepo has proven himself on the pitch with five goals and three assists this season. Milan is said to be negotiating the sale of Alen Halilovic to Standard Liege, and there are discussions of including Djenepo as part of this transaction if they miss out on Allan Saint-Maximin from Nice.

Halilovic's move seems imminent, with reports stating it could happen within hours, following his limited impact with the Rossoneri this season, where he has made only three substitute appearances since joining from Hamburg last summer.

On the defensive front, Milan has also finalized the signing of Tiago Djalo from Sporting CP. The 18-year-old defender will add depth to Milan's backline as he transitions from the youth ranks of the Portugal U19 national team.

Milan's strategic moves during this transfer window reflect their ambitions as they aim to remain competitive both domestically and on the European stage. While securing players like Fernandes and Djenepo, the club also recognizes the importance of offloading underperforming talents like Halilovic to create room for new acquisitions. The dynamics of the transfer market this season will undoubtedly shape the team's future as they seek to return to their former glory.

With various options and negotiations underway, fans are eagerly awaiting updates on these transfers, hoping the club secures the reinforcements needed to bolster their squad for the challenges ahead.
